Thanks to a miracle finish in the variable cap, I’ll have 3 playoff teams. Some marginal hope remains of holding on to the bottom of the cage.

I believe this is the best finish I have had in this event. Far short of the cage. Ended up with 4 second place teams, two missing the division titles by one game thanks to collapsing at the end for both. redcped was the beneficiary of one of those :-)

Had two disastrous teams as well. Hopefully I can take some lessons from this to improve again next year.

No chance on the cage, but I’m happy to have 3 playoff teams, 4 teams over .500, and my two worst teams with 75 and 79 wins. Much better than last year and the best I’ve ever done in this tourney. I feel I grew a lot in this tourney and can’t wait for next year!

Even though my 3 potential playoff teams fell down to only 1 (s/o to the variable league!) this was a lot of fun.

Brutal 4th 162 cycle cost me a chance at Top 48, but I’m happy to finish over .500 and in the top half of the standings especially in my first year playing

Yeah good point, although the 300 bonus points that will be distributed across the 30 league winners will certainly move teams around the standings some (on top of the 11 points each winning team will get on top of that). Will be interesting!

There will be many good players not making The Cage. Nobody needs to hang their heads, this has been a very competitive field. Congrats to those moving on to Round 2...

This was a blast. I finished 119th (by one game!) but learned so very much from this. I cannot wait to build my next teams, gonna start tonight. Thank you to ozomotli, the league commissioners, 06gsp and wink's backup standings, haikus and limericks, and everyone that participated - so many taught me so much!

Besides my second to last overall finish, I believe also had the single worst team of the tourney - I appreciate that league for putting up with that team. Holy Toledo did I screw up my IP there - I was in the red with 3/4 of my pitchers by week three. Then, I actually believed I could out maneuver the sim and make a team some 3/400 IP short work... Spinning the wheel of stupid there - but even that team had some bright spots. Second to everything I learned.... I won a division and made the playoffs - both for my very first time. So personally, this was a giant W for me.

Wins at each 162 mark: 84, 82, 83, 87, 83, 84. I guess you could say I was consistent at least. It felt like I was constantly trading off hot streaks with cold streaks, but am happy to have finished .500+ in each 162 cycle.

Comparing to myself last year, during which I only had three 162 cycles over .500, and I improved by about 29 wins

We’ve had some very good fortune in one run games.

06gsp’s complete dominance was a lot more than some ‘good fortune’ in one run games. He had the top overall team out of all 720 (116 wins); he had five 100+ win teams and his ‘weak’ team still had 92 wins; he was the top owner in half of the six162 game cycles, top four in five of them, and his ‘weak’ cycle still had him 14th out of 120 very competitive owners.
I’m in a tie for 10th overall and yet the 56th place owner is closer in wins to myself than I am to 06gsp.
Well done and good luck in the playoffs and in round two.

This was a brutal division. My +235 run differential was good enough for third place.

thanks, I have some good teams but they've also 100% benefitted from some good luck.

in the 140M my team had a .592 expected win percentage and won 100 games, in the same side of the league brianjw's team had a .582 expected win percentage and won 77 games. 25-16 in one run games to brian's 15-37. and in the 90M I won 102 and d_rock won 79 on the same side of the league with a very similar roster. the luck element is larger than people give it credit for, I certainly don't think I'm a standard deviation better than the rest of the best owners on the site.
