Mavioric12' daggers against whalers10 are the only cheap 1B, Mike Squires and Comiskey Park.

Easy choice for the first dagger for mavioric12.

1958 Ted Williams is gone

OK redcped, after looking at your situation I've concluded that one of your SPs from the '68 Senators will have to get the dagger. None of those position players on the '68 Senators are indispensable. I thought about taking out McMullen at 3B (but you'll probably prefer Sabo anyway) and I can't see you using Frank Howard when you have better OF choices. After losing Jackson you'll still have several pitchers available to fill out your starting rotation - but affordable
starters will be at a premium with that $80M cap. You'll have to do without Camillo Pascual.

The KC Westport Bus Drivers at Forbes Field (1948 Pirates) --- Current Payroll: $79,720,646

All the Player Listings are simply Copy and Paste from View Performance History ...

Did not check but all salaries should be correct as i just opened player tab from Team Draft Center page

Used 5 Tabs : 1 Tab for the Bad Neighbor Draft Entries and 4 for the 4 Assigned Year/Team(s) to compare Diamond Positions and Pitchers ...

Comments : Redo had Problems with Catcher and SS and consequently everywhere due to domino effect ... Terrible but you know next season I will be watching like a hawk to include the 2nd cheap position player as was horrific this season :) ... Win 63 Games :)

Had one Until player Jose Morales --- Position: DH/C/1B/OF

I had to do without chosen $6.9 Mil 1978 Amos Otis in CF ... It seems as if I would not have been able to use the Daggered OF Kiner even at $6 Mil!

Do not know what to think of my Pitching Staff --- how it will perform ... I would have chosen the Daggered 1968 Stan Bahnsen -- but even at $7.5 Mil he seems in retrospect too expensive ! ...

Would not have chosen Daggered Royal Stadium -2 OF just fine but Singles Doubles Triples a bit too daunting for my Pitching Staff I think
+1 +2 +3 -2 -2 1.06

Was considering Yankee Stadium (I) but was concerned I would only get on base with an accidental walk as Team Slash :)
.264 .336 .379 C+/C+ $40,665,280
-2 0 +1 -1 -1 0.90

Chose Forbes Field (1948 Pirates) as IF Rangy with 1B Carew C/B --- 2B Murtaugh B/B+ --- 3B Brett B/A- --- and SS Fresh C/A ... Thought I may get lucky that way and maybe get a few base hits
+1 0 0 0 0 1.02

Maybe too many IP with 1520 but decided on 5 Man Rotation and wanted no Fatigue considering the Pitching Staffs mediocrity

I was indeed planning to use him. I had to downgrade to a less impressive Senators SP and then I started tinkering all over the place. Hopefully for the better.

PS: Can't figure out how to shed a Red to make Sabo work and do have Howard in there because I need all the Sens I can get.

I think I'm ready to stop messing with this roster and post it. I've got over $150K I can't figure out how to spend, but that happens with limited player pools.

I had two SP daggered, and that forced some shifts. I'll have to run a tandem to replace Danny Jackson and use a worse Senators SP in Joe Coleman after losing Camilo Pascual. My top two SP will be Gaylord Perry (78 Padres, 2.87 ERC#) and Mike Moore (88 Mariners, 2.93), followed by Coleman (3.68) and the combo of Jose Rijo (2.58) and Scott Bankhead (2.52). Rijo has 164 IP but only 3.3 IP/G, which makes him less useful as a SP, so I have to pair him with Bankhead's 136 IP. That's actually a 300 IP tandem, and I'll be trying to skip Coleman as often as possible to get more out of those two. Coleman's stats actually look decent, but because he's from 1968 he normalizes badly.

The bullpen is fairly stout with 88 Reds John Franco (2.00) and Rob Dibble (2.26) along with Rollie Fingers (2.05) and Mike Jackson (2.75). Those guys combine for 335 IP for the late innings. All told I have 1,415 IP, a 2.89 ERA, .229 OAV, and 1.14 WHIP.

I went with as many of my cheapest backups as possible on offense, so I have four players under 400K and a pretty awful bench. For the most part, though, the lineup won't need too many days off. My strengths are several guys with speed, a few guys with high OBP, and a few guys who can hit it out of the park. Pretty much no one actually can do multiple of those things, but hey what do you want for $80M?

I took my two cheapest catchers, because the guy who's going to play most of the time there is my backup 1B, Gene Tenace (.224/.392/.409), a walking machine with an A- arm and a little pop for $3.2M. Playing 1B will be Alvin Davis (.295/.412/.462). Over at 2B is Harold Reynolds (.283/.340/.383) with his 90 speed but awful base stealing (35 SB, 29 CS ... what are you doing out there, Harold?). At 3B I had to go with Ken McMullen (.248/.326/.382) because I couldn't get another Red in there to use Chris Sabo instead. Also, because when I was 10 I attended Ken McMullen's summer baseball camp and had a wonderful time (except for some of my baseball cards getting stolen out of my room). At SS, I ultimately went with Barry Larkin (.296/.347/.429) over the much weaker bat of Ozzie Smith.

I had a tough time figuring out my outfield and had to give up on a great range guy in CF. Part of my challenge was lineup balance, as I'm really RH-heavy and had to at least get one LH bat out there. I've got a 44-homer guy with a lead glove in Frank Howard (.274/.338/.552), a slightly miscast CF in Dave Winfield (.308/.367/.499), and Kal Daniels (.291/.397/.463). I had to pass on Eric Davis unfortunately, because his B range would have been an upgrade in CF, and he's got speed and power. But with the team restrictions and needs elsewhere, he got squeezed out.

I'm not exactly sure how these guys will line up yet, but I'll try to get some OBP/speed guys up there ahead of Howard and Winfield and Davis. All told I've got 5,837 PA with a slash of .270/.351/.425, though the pitiful bench drags that down a good bit.

We'll be playing in San Diego Stadium, a pitchers' park that takes away things we aren't great at (2B and 3B) without punishing the 1B or HR that we'll need some of.

Second dagger for ermocito

I went round and round with this pick because there isn't anyone on the 58 Orioles that is important to this team. In fact when I looked at his team, I said, please don;t have me dagger the 58 O's but I knew he would because all the other teams had easy people to dagger.

So my first idea was Gus Triandos who would be the second catcher daggered, and that would leave his only catcher option as Rookie of the Year Johnny Bench. I thought this was okay until I saw Bench had 40 doubles and with guys like Appling and Rose at the top of the lineup, those doubles would be killers.

Then I went with the backup shortstop Castleman, even though he has another guy at 700k also, but I thought he might want to use both of them. Problem with that is he would use another White Sox instead which would ease the pressure of getting six Chisox onto the team, and it would only cost 1.2 million.

I thought of fourth outfielder Nieman, but Woodling is about the same for about the same price.

I thought of Hoyt Wilhelm with his .86 WHIP and a bargain at 1.8 million though only 44 innings, but the Braves have another 44 inning reliever with a 1.03 WHIP and is a bit cheaper, and I didn't think he could go with two 40 inning pitchers on a 10 man staff.

After doing roster after roster I settled on a guy that no matter how I messed with the roster, he was included in it.

Don't know if this will hurt at all, but the dagger falls on

Arnie Portocarrera (P)

If I only put a little thought into it....
