You do know Silver doesn't work for NYTimes but has his own site and model (which nailed 2008) and is only picked up by the aforementioned paper?
Of  course not,  I keep forgetting you're the idiot who thinks Bush is a liberal.

Saying the SC decision didn't matter just highlights your stupidity.

In the contested election, the Supreme Court decided to overrule the Florida State Supreme Court on a matter of state law and precedence, itself a highly unusual procedure. Members of the Court who potentially had a conflict of interest did not recluse themselves from the case, another irregularity.  Chief Justice Rehnquist, with Justices Scalia and Thomas concurring, wrote that this was such an unusual and unprecedented occurrence that it should set no precedent, another highly unusual statement for the Court to make.

On the eve of the election Sandra Day O’Connor had made a public statement that a Gore victory would be a personal disaster for her. Clarence Thomas’ wife was so intimately involved in the Bush campaign that she was helping to draw up a list of Bush appointees more or less at the same time as her husband was adjudicating on whether the same man would become the next President. Finally, Antonin Scalia’s son was working for the firm appointed by Bush to argue his case before the Supreme Court, the head of which was subsequently appointed as Solictor-General.

FYI for SABRheads, Nate Silver also invented the PECOTA system. So clearly he is no dummy, and the right is free to dismiss him at the risk of their continued ignorance.

We can discuss the issue of the SC decision.

It wouldnt have changed the election.

True...it only would have changed the outcome of the election.

Swamp, you do know the difference between a 5-4 decision and a 4-5 decision, right?

The decision to end the recount didnt change the outcome.

Even if they had allowed everything that Gore wanted it still would have resulted in a Bush win. Almost every outcome resulted in a Bush win.

Bush probably would have won SC or not.
Actually, the ironic thing, if I recall correctly,  is if they had relied on the "Bush" method Gore would have won, and by relying on the "Gore" method, Bush would have won.
Hardly "every method"

There was not one recount (official or unofficial) that Gore won.  Not one.  The obvious BS in the whole thing was the "hanging chads" and trying to figure out the "intent of the voter".  How the **** do you do that?  It's simple.  You pay attention and you vote for one person.  If you **** up, and you accidentally vote for the wrong person, you request a new ballot.

Oh, and the Gore Camp was a bunch of idiots.  You can't pick and choose counties you want recounted, in the way you want recounted.  That is a guaranteed reversal.

And I will say again, the networks called FLA for Gore an hour prior to polls closing on the panhandle, which has a big military population.  Complete and utter BS.  This thing would have all been avoided had that not happened.

Exit polls, moron.  Exit polls that have been historically on the mark in presidential elections.

And if you want to blame the networks for calling Florida early, then you have to blame Bush's cousin or nephew at FOX for jumping the gun and calling the election for Bush after midnight when it was obviously too close to call and headed for a full recount.  That's quite the responsible broadcasting from the FOX mouthpieces.

Yep, it's ironic that on a website that focuses it's games on stats, we have nutjobs who want to dismiss statistical models.
