The thing that makes me feel bad for Tebow is that none of this is his doing. He doesn't seek the spotlight, he doesn't try to draw attention to himself, but people heap hatred on him like he's an arrogant *****. It doesn't make sense. I still think it all comes down to people wanting to see him fail - not wanting to believe a guy could be that good and walk the walk, because then they'd have to take an even longer look at themselves.
Limbaugh said it best. Our culture does take people, set 'em up to knock 'em down. There is a psychology behind that, and the psychology is rooted in inferiority. We don't want anybody to be better than we are so that we don't have to deal with how bad we are. We're romancing society's corrupt perverted losers like Occupy Wall Street, because in a comparative thing, who doesn't look better than somebody defecating or urinating all over themselves? So we're kinda happy to have 'em out there. In comparison, we look pretty good.
