League NameLimited Seasons Twist
Salary Cap: $100 million
Level of Difficulty: Hard

Description:
Pick any single-season team (1901-2009 seasons only) and build your roster from players who appeared at least one game on that team.  This is a special version of a “Twist” league.  When you “twist” your players to another season, you may only use seasons within +/- 3 years of your selected season.  For example, if you choose the 1994 White Sox then you can use any Frank Thomas season from 1991 thru 1997.  Only players from 1901-2009 are eligible so if you pick a team from 1901-02 or 2008-09 seasons, then you are further limiting your twist choices.

Team Name: Include the season and team (i.e., Crappy ‘62 Mets)

League NamePower/ Speed
Salary Cap: $120 million
Level of Difficulty: Easy

Description:
You must draft an offense where your team’s real life total HRs + SBs >= 500 (not per 162 games).  There is no minimum requirement for HRs or SBs.  You could draft 450 SBs and 50 HRs or vice versa.  But, here’s the catch.  You may not have any player on your roster with a catcher’s arm of C- or better (D+, D, D- arms only).  Also, every pitcher you roster must have a HR/9 >= 0.50.  The DH will be used in this league.

Select exactly one hitter and one pitcher from each of the 12 decades from 1890-2009 (i.e., 1890-1899, 1900-1909… 2000-2009).  That gives you 24 players (12 hitters, 12 pitchers).  You must spend between $3 million and $20 million per decade for these 12 decades – that’s an average of $11.5 million per decade.  Your 25th player must be from the 1880’s and may be any salary.

Question: In the Twist league are we using WIS eligible players or Baseball Reference as our eligible guide?
5/31/2010 12:38 PM
Answer: Baseball Reference. If a player appeared in even 1 game, then he is eligible to be twisted.
5/31/2010 12:41 PM
Question - Do only the starting 9 count toward the >=500 combined SB+HR limit in the $120 million theme or do all non-pitchers count toward the total?
5/31/2010 3:16 PM
Answer: All non-pitchers count toward the total.

Q: for the Modern Day 5-Man league, does "starting pitcher" refer to the player's listed role in the database, use in the league, both, or neither?
6/1/2010 3:58 PM
Answer: SP is defined as the position listed in the database. How you use your pitchers is up to you.

Back to the Twist again, when you twist a player from a certain year to another, does he have to still play for the same team as he did in the year selected?
