Upstate CAC Coaches Thread Topic

Wow, gotta bump if for no other reason than to not lose the thread...I've been really busy guys and not fully focussed on this game. But here we are, October 2nd, OOC schedule is in the bag, and no responses to jp's pre-season poll (above). So, it seems everyone is busy as well.

I offer these questions as our pre-season poll:

We start the season with four ranked teams. How many will we end with? Two

Who wins the North? RPI is looking strong for that spot.

Who wins the South? Chicago (sorry 'polo)

Who wins the CT? NYU

How many teams will qualify for the NT? Three

What team will have the lowest RPI this season? Going to go with RPI, although it will be close with Chicago

How far will the UCAC go in the NT this season (quarters, final four, etc.)? I'll say 2 to Elite Eight
*Disclaimer* This is posted after OOC schedule completed.

Recruiting has wrapped up for Chicago:

David (6 degrees from Kevin) Bacon will spend the season redshirting as I prefer to do w/ all SF on this level.
Williams will spend the season backing up the SF spot, then slide down to play backup PF next season before likely getting the starting nod his junior & senior season.
Hansen will ride the pine this season as he learns the ropes, perhaps snagging a few minutes here & there at the 1, 2 or 3 spot as needed. I think he'll develop into a star, and should be the starter from his soph season till graduation.
Weiss was a bit of a different move more for me. A senior transfer from La Tech, he knows both my offense & defense, and looks like he can provide more solid backup minutes at the 2 spot than any freshman could. While not great on offense, he should be able to hold his own against other backups given his speed & B level IQ. Meanwhile, he looks like a lock down defender. Combined w/ McGlade the opposing SG should get tied up more often than not.

RPI - NT or bust.
Last season: Cruised through non-con versus weak opposition (unscheduled). Lost to OT games against Chicago and NYU that, if won, would have gotten us into the NT where I feel we could have done some damage. Lost 2nd rd of PIT to a SIM that made it to semi-finals.
This season: Tough non-con scheduled. Three recruits that show some promise. After we get our starters team offense and defense up through challanging non-con, expect team to put forth a good showing.
Next season: Total rebuild with new recruiting focus. Stay tuned.

Hamilton has been reserved. I have to assume its rwright. thats puts us a coach away from being filled. and its quite a resume of coaches. i'll work on filling the last spot.
i'll take this chance to formally welcome rwright to the upstate. good luck. this conference keeps you on your toes every single game.

CASE WESTERN RESERVE COACH EXPECTING TO DANCE
It has been 15 seasons since the last time the Case Western Reserve participated in the WCAA National Tournament. But, the Spartans are expecting to break their post-seasonless streak this year with a strong returning line-up.
Last season, CWR gained some attention when they defeated Chicago both times in conference play. This season, they will be expected to do even more. This task will not be easy as the UAA owns the pre-season poll with six ranked teams, the most of any Division III conference.
CWR is not intimidated by this fact and feel they can compete with anyone on their schedule. Returning seven juniors, CWR will look to finish in the upper half of the tough University Athletic Association. Captains C Richard Owens and SG Paul West have started every game of their collegiate careers and will lead the attack for Coach hutchbrett's team. Juniors SG Steven Leonard, SF Daniel Buxton, and PF William Lacey will most likely round out the starting five. The run-and-gun attack used by Coach hutchbrett the past two seasons will also allow plenty of time for the bench to get involved. According to the CWR coach, the back-ups at all positions look to be solid.
In his third year, this is good news for Coach hutchbrett as he looks for his first winning season. "Coming into the Case Western Reserve, I knew it was going to take some time to introduce my system and rebuild this program. I think this season will be a statement year for where this program is heading."

Hey Guys!

I picked up Clarkson. Looking forward to dragging this team out of the darkness and into the light. Will be recruiting 5 young ones next season, at the least.

Maybe 6, depending on how those who will be eligible next season do this year........Will also be keeping the O/D as is.

I really enjoy being a part of any conference where the coaches are active and involved in the game, so I'm looking forward to next season quite a bit from that standpoint. Less so for the 2 seasons of beatings that will follow, but that will correct itself, in time.
