By virtue of his Conn Smythe trophy and King Clancy Memorial Trophy (Leadership and Humanitarian Contribution), Iceland names D - Nolan Toimi as our new franchise player, succeeding Vezina winning goaltender Markus Orn Antonsson, who announced his retirement about 10 minutes ago.

The MLD Champion NY Junk Yard Dogs announce the retirement of  Franchise Player LW Lou Romola. Lou had the ultimate FP career winning a cup in his three straight seasons as the franchise player, a record that can only be tied and never broken.  Lou was a three time all star during his FP years and he was also named Hart Memorial Trophy League MVP and Frank J Selke Memorial Trophy (Top Defensive Forward) in season 23. Lou's leadership will be sorely missed. The NY JYD announce their Vezina Trophy winning Goalie Des Renstrom will be their new Franchise Player.

The Indianapolis Racers announce the retirement of the following lifelong Racers:

RW Steven Hirviniemi: 479 GP, 119-162-281, +48, 15.6 S% (playoffs 56GP 14-15-29)
LW Hector Matomaki: 284 GP, 57-62-119 (playoffs 65 GP, 6-14-20)
D Rhett Grasnik: 465 GP, 32-241-273, +167 (playoffs 59 GP, 0-22-22)
D Jyrki Nevanheimo: 504 GP, 28-85-113 (playoffs 51 GP, 0-13-13)
C Marko Mustalammi: 510 GP, 154-159-313 +155, 18.4 S% (playoffs 62GP, 20-14-34, 26.3 S%)
G Ulf Branni: 331 GP, 144-107-23 W/L/T, 2.38 GAA, 22 SO, .870 Sv% (playoffs 53GP, 28-21-0. 2.59 GAA, 3 SO, .842 S%)

As well, FP C Garry Valoheimo announced his retirement after 640 games in which he amassed 153 goals and 162 assists for 315 points.  He also appeared in 82 playoff games, scoring 20 goals and 32 assists and a 21.1% shooting percentage.

Indianapolis announced D Clarke Malmitera will assume the captaincy and franchise player tag.

Kingston sadly announces the retirement of (D) Claudio Ojaluoma, a former MLD MVP, an MLD Cup Winner(Yr13) and likely to be Kingston all time point leader with 610 points.

The new Kingston FP will be (LW) Zach Hawco.  (despite some people within the organization claiming this to be a controversial move as rumour has it, Hawco is directly related to someone within the Kingston management team, though these rumours have not been confirmed.)  :)

Michipicoten Blizzard announces the retirements of FP - G - Veli-Pekka Brask, RW - Rosaire Someroja, D - Rob Kaarakainen, D - Ramzi Myllys, D - Hickey Nousianen and D - Gates Belyaov. The Blizzard also announce's RW Thommy Bogdanov as new FP as well as naming him the new team Captain as reward for his stellar play and leadership in helping the team to it's first cup apperance.
