jtpoops thinks that teams play exactly the same way whether the score is 1-0, 3-0, or 15-0.
Let's say the call stands, and the score ends up being 3-0. But when Girardi was ejected, he rips 1st base out and throws it in the stands.  How do you know how anyone reacts to that? Maybe the Yankees get a little more pumped, the Tigers get a little intimidated, and the Yankees score a few runs.  Or maybe the Tigers get angrier and score a few more runs and win 6-0.  The point is you can't just assume the same exact thing will happen if the scenario changes.  To assume it would is silly.

Try telling that to jtpops.

The obvious change is that pitchers will pitch differently when the score is 1-0 or 3-0.    1-0 is one swing.

And I promise you Coke isn't in that game pitching to Martin.

That's the 2nd obvious change.  Managers manage differently.

The Yankees have had enough calls go there way in the playoffs over the years, finally they get screwed. I remember when Joe Mauer and the Twins got screwed in '09 and what Girardi said then:

"Nothing is perfect in this game," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "And does the situation change? They have first and third and we're still going to play the infield in. Cuddyer gets a hit, it may change the game. But there's always that element of human error in the game, and we got a little break."

So suck it Joe.

The way the Yanks are hitting, the Tiggers should have put those two runs in the bank and used them in the next two games for 1-0 victories.

True but no one thought High A Garcia had a hit in him. I'm surprised he even hit one fair.

When will you be changing the title of this thread?

Nice attempt at translating everyone but you all get an epic fail. I didn't say there's no difference between 3-0 and 1-0. I said the Yankees never change their approach based on situation. They were swinging for the fences down 4-0 in Game 1. Don't try to tell me they stopped trying to hit HRs because the deficit was bigger. When you get your sorry ***** shutout, you can't complain about a few extra runs being on the board. That call did not affect the outcome of that game. The Yanks are just choke artists - accept it.

What does that make the O's?

Gayrod + Granderson on the bench tonight, as the team faces elimination.

I'm wondering why Cano and Chavez are starting.
