Like many HBD owners, the Cubs never win either.

but they pay a lot more for the privilige of not winning, right?

I spelled privilege wrong, didn't I?

Why does Gleemanworld2 feel like a cult?

No, I'm sure the Cubs make money by the bucketload.

You did.

Already explained.   He has a blog and it was filled by his sycophants.   Which sounds mean but it isn't.   They're self-contained and I imagine more than one has ventured out and joined another world.   Bringing people in is good.

I know the Cubs make a lot of money, but that's not what I asked you, is it? They pay much more for the privilege of losing than a WhatIfSports owner does, right?

I should know this by now, but who gets put into a game first: long relief a or setup a?

I'm not sure you're understanding the concept.    The Ricketts family bought the Cubs.   He pays employees and charges customers.   When the books are balanced, they/the Cubs make a lot of money.  They don't really pay to lose.   HBD owners drop $20 on a team.   When they lose, their best hope is to get a $4 credit.   They're paying $16 to lose.

Depends on the situation/settings.    If you have both set to "ANY", SIMMY will use the best pitcher.

Mike, how do you tell the difference between a ++ play and a + play in the league fielding stats? Or is there a difference at all?
4/2/2015 11:26 AM
You don't.   I've never played close enough attention to be 100% certain but I think a ++ robs a player of extra bases.

Maybe so, but is it not true that the Cubs cold pay a lot less in salaries and stuff and still lose just as much?

They could but that would only increase profit not compound losses.

enough crap about the Cubs? who cares, besides loser Cubs fans?  A serious question about fielding ratings.
Two shortstops in the same league.
#1 has fielding ratings of 94 86 89 92
#2 has fielding ratings of 92 81 93 85

#1 has played 132 games and made 14 errors and 21 + plays with a range factor of 5.21
#2 has played 147 games and made 32 errors and 15 + plays with a range factor of 5.43

my question is in only 15 more games why has # 2 made 1.5 times as many errors?  Is the 5 point difference in glove ratings that important?   This is the first season #1 has played that many games, while #2 has consistently played at least that many games and consistently made the same general number of errors.
If it means anything #1 plays in new Orleans and #2 plays in Oakland.  I would expect both guys to be above average major league shortstops, wouldn't you?  But 32 errors is a lot.  How do you explain it?

Number of chances will play a big part.   5 glove at SS is a big deal and .22 chances per game means he's gotten 100+(if my drinking Jack on ice math isn't too bad) more opportunties.    I think it's a little off, more than twice as many errors seems like a lot, but it's not insanely off.
