I'm not offended by your views and agree on the issue. A average everyday joe being a patriot and doing what his country asks isn't the bad guy and we should not kill the messenger. Goverments and the powers that be are the culprits in this mass stupidity.

wow, this thread has taken an unexpected turn in topic of discussion.

as a coach is a bad thing?

Example:  My resume -   I have 157 seasons with a total of 13 CC's and 0 NC's and .706 winning percentage.  In D3, D2 and D1-AA, I have never been to a Final Four.  I have been to the 3rd round a total of 3 times.  So, effectively, I am a perennial "2nd round and out" playoff coach.  And my bowl record is abyssmal.  Am I a great coach?  No.  But do I stop trying? No.  Do I quit enjoying the game? No.  Do I feel as if I am a respectable coach?  Yes.  For this I am an idiot (or worse) according to several other coaches posting here.

All over these forums I see coaches with similar resumes being called out just because their resume doesn't resemble nelson's, dravz's, plague's, slider's ... I could go on, but I hope you get the point.  We have no opinion because we suck.  We cannot post because we don't know how to win. We only like the new engine because the upper echelon doesn't know how to win either, so maybe we have a chance.  However, without  the "respectable" coaches, this game would be very uninteresting.  Not everyone can be a top coach.  There has to be top coaches, respectable coaches, mediocre coaches and, yes, even bad coaches, just like there is in real life.

Do I like the new engine?  Yes and no.  I like the new engine because it is generally more REALISTIC in terms of gameplay than the old one.  On the other hand, I don't like the new engine for the UNREALISTIC features it has introduced.  I'm not going to name them, they are all over the forums and we know what they are.  Do I think I am going to be more successful under the new engine?  At this point, absolutely not.  However, I do support the new engine.  I will have patience and hope that the bugs get worked out and fixed as soon as possible.  Even though I am not happy that I have to pay for what seems to be the "beta-testing" of the new engine. I'm going to have to start over and  figure things out. I send in tickets for the things that seem out of whack instead of posting belligerent posts on the forum screaming about how stupid it is and I'm going to quit.  I. too, have PAID for my 157 seasons while trying to make my teams as good as I could possibly make them.   I personally believe that the coaches that support the new engine, even with its'  problems, far out-number the coaches that don't.  For this, again, we are idiots.

At this point, I'd rather be respectable.

DISCLAIMER:   To my knowledge, no one hs attacked me or my resume personally.  I just have seen it many times and can easily put myself in those coaches' shoes.
i don't think the lack of respect is directed towards coaches like you,  who have played 150 seasons.

i think it is directed towards the sort of guys who have maybe 150 games under their belt, and think they're here to run the show and tell everybody how it works.

kap, I agree with your post.  Although I don't believe people should be so nasty about it, please understand the gist of the frustation of elite coaches.

I'm a professional computer tech.  I fix computers that are not working as intended.  Few things irritate me more than to have clients who are computer-ignorant question my judgement on a computer issue.   I feel that they don't have the credentials to challenge me in this area.

now, it's not quite the same as my aforementioned example, but generally speaking, coaches who are very successful at this game have greater knowledge and understanding of the game than coaches who are less successful.  When these successful coaches complain that the new engine is terribly broken, they know what they are talking about.  To have less successful coaches argue about the merit of the new engine is understandably irritating.  That's why the GD resumes of said group have been called out.

now I do believe that a respectful discussion should take place without belittling anyone.  I am not defending the behavior, only explaining why.

100% agreed.  I haven't seen any "elite" coaches attacking another coach for his record.  At least what I consider an elite coach.  I have tried to follow plague's postings and I generally agree with his perceptions, understandings and points of brokenness of the new engine.  When plague asked why anyone would think it is more realistic and got a response, his response wasn't "You haven't won anything, so you have no idea what you are talking about, you are an idiot."  He would explain his side of why he considers it unrealistic or broken.   And I listened because it was plague and he damn sure knows more than I do about this game.  I feel the "Your record shows that you are an idiot" argument from certain coaches just means that they have no idea what THEY are talking about and that is their only defense.

I understand and can appreciate the frustration of the top coaches.  But the new engine is in place, seemingly being beta-tested by the consumer and, from what I have seen on the forums so far, it is here to stay.  So, coaches like me, who are going to give it a go and try to find some good in it, are not idiots just because our resumes are respectable,  not elite.

bc.. your diatribe is too long to read.  In my view, I want no part of you.  If people like you were in charge we'd still be kneeling to the Queen.  Are you from Berkely?  People that think like you have gotten more of our people killed than should have been killed.  While our government tries to appease you people and tries to reason with terrorists, because you guys don't like bloodshed, our soldiers die.  Do you even remember 9/11?  How about the Cole?  We entered WW I because the Lusitania was sunk,  Less people were killed there than in the twin towers.  Why don't you and the rest of the people thinking like you, set up a meeting or a peace march over there and get this all ironed out?  I'm sure they'd stop chopping heads off for a while to accomodate you.  It is people tying our militarys hands that is getting our men kiled over their now.  Do you think for one minute that those Arab governments aren't the money behind the Taliban?

War it is an ugly thing.  But how do you win a war?  You kill the enemy until they are tired of being killed.  If it takes killing them until they are all gone then that is what it takes.  Your kind will not allow that so we do half measures and lose more of our own.  You know nothing of wars or why they are fought.  The coward in you jumps to fore to keep you safe at someone elses expense and you don't even have the decency to appreciate it.   In your eyes we should have paid our tea tax and went on under English rule.

Please, your kind sickens me.  I hope to never cross paths with your ilk again but I know there are many like you.  If the call ever comes for your generation I am sure you will find Canada a comfortable country.  I'm done reading your garbage.  If this country is so bad,  PLEASE LEAVE.

Calm down brother.  He's a kid under 25.  He knows everything.  He hasn't lived long enough to actually experience anything.  I have no idea how he ever came by any of his war knowledge as they don't teach much or any of it in school anymore.  Japan has been teaching for years that Pearl Harbor didn't happen and that we attacked them.  Germany has denied the Holocaust and a lot of our educators tell our young it never happened.  You can tell he isn't dry behind the ears yet when he accuses you of not knowing what Communism or Socialism is.  Just let it go and ignore him.  They don't even teach about Auschwitz or Treblinka.  9/11 was just a random act and no government supplied the money to those guys.  Bin Laden is just a ruse so we can test our military stuff.  Yada yada.  You can't reason with the libs.  He has no clue what it is like to fight for somebody elses freedom.  His world is his keyboard.  Unless he reads it it isn't fact.  He didn't live it.  That's the difference.

Wow you people are fools lol. Your ignorance amazes me. Kneeling to the queen? Really? Because I dont support unjust and sensless wars you assume I was against the revolution bahaha, that is a stretch. Who have I gotten killed? It is you my friend who are getting our soldiers killed over there. I dont say to reason with terrorists, I say that if it wasnt for the past 60 years of American imperialism there would be no terroists flying planes into our buildings. And with that, when do you draw the line for retribution? We have killed faaarrrr more civilians in the middle east then they did on 9/11 and we STILL havnt found the man responsible. You talk about the money behind the taliban, do you really want to know who supplied the money behind the taliban? WE DID!! We set up all those Arab governments following WWI and WWII and made some promises we didnt keep, and THATS why there is hate against the west in the middle east.  You ask how to win a war, I ask why fight the war to begin with.  By you logic we should just nuke the whole place now, yea thats the way to be. You my friend are the one that knows NOTHING of wars or why they are fought. If you actually read my post you would see that I would be the first person in line to enlist to go fight for my country if ever the cause was just and needed. Your talk of my cowardice just shows your ignorance, because when people refer to name calling and personal attacks it is because they ran out of anything intelligent to say and add to the debate. I am open to changeing my beliefs, but your gunna have to do alot better then calling me a coward and telling me to move to Canada. I love this country and the ideals it represents, thats why I am so adament about trying to change it for the better and not let it become the evil, hated, outlaw nation that it is becoming today. If YOU truly loved this country you would want the same thing.

Zedicus, what are you saying lol? Of course I know about Pearl Harbor and Auschwitz and that 9/11 was funded by an arab government. So lets start at the beginning. Yes I am under 25, and I have most deff expierianced plenty since 9/11/2001. Japan did bomb Pearl Harbor, but only after the United States squeezed them of their oil imports leaveing them no choice but to attack us. Yes, Pearl Harbor was a result of our own doing. Yes I accuse him of not knowing what Communisim and Socialism are, because he called me those things and has yet to explain his reasoning behind it. I duont know what planet you are living on, but Im pretty sure the Holocaust has NEVER been denied in ANY American classroom. If you have some proof to the contrary I would gladly love to read it. You say you cant "reason with libs" well have you ever tried? I can very much be reasoned with. Unfortunatley, it takes a well thought out and intelligent argument to do so and I have yet to hear one which disproves me on this board. My world is my keyboard? Noo, it isnt fact unless it is fact lol. And the fact is that everywar fought since WWII has been for reasons other than freedom and liberty. Thats not fact because I read it, its fact because it is true and the evidence supports it. What evidence do you guys have to prove the opposite? Present it if you have it. And also, unless you were at Normandy or some other WWII battlefield, you also have no clue what it is like to fight for someone elses freedom.

You people are so quick to attack me personally when you have no clue what I have gone through, you have no clue about the loved ones I have lost due to the fighting of these costly wars. People I cared about died for NOTHING and that needs to be stopped.

Dissent is the HIGHEST form of Patriotisim

Grindi, im sorry I forgot this but....yea those arab governments are the money behind the taliban, but who do you think the money is behind those arab goverments? We are!!! The Saudis are some of the biggest commiters of human rights violations in the world, yet they are also our biggest allies in the middle east...hmmm why is that? Oh yea, because they have the oil that we want, so we attack Saddam for something he did in 82 when we were still supporting him, but do nothing about a Saudi King who continues to opress his people to this day with our continued support
11/22/2010 1:50 PM
Did Thomas Jefferson give up when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL NO!
11/22/2010 2:22 PM
Kids...they say the darndest things....Ha...Ha...Ha.

Nobody attacked you, we just don't want to be tarred with the same brush so we'll keep away from you.  Your thinking makes me want to puke.

bc, I don't know what college you went to (if you actually went) or what history books you are reading.  But you make a few invalid points.

1:  FDR on a weekly basis gave a Status of the Union speech on the radio and every week vehemently stated that the United States would not be getting involved  in the European War (WWII) unless the War came to our shores, even with constant  pressure from the newly immigrated American People.  Long before we entered the War, Japan had control and submarine bases on several Pacific Islands but wanted more. The Axis had warned and urged Japan to leave Hawaii (the U.S.) alone.  Japan couldn't control themselves, bombed Pearl Harbor, the only U.S. base in the Pacific, and Voila!, the U.S. enters the War.  No oil.  They attacked us, we fought back.  Simple.

2:  The U.N asked the United States and the United Kingdom to aid in the defense of Saudi Arabia.  A country to small to defend themselves from Iraq.  Period.  And good ole Bin Laden was our ALLY for that war.  Years later, Bush wanted the oil.  It is very easily verified that the oil companies that Bush and Cheney had stock in, had extreme interests in Iraq.  WMD was just anexcuse, it that isn;t obvious to you, you need more help than I can give.

But if you want to know why is it that the Middle East hates us?  Easy.  Once we get somewhere, WE NEVER LEAVE!  Then we try to force our way of life on a whole new culture.  Gee ... wonder why they're mad.  We are the only country in the world that has a MILITARY base on 40% of the countries in the world.  We just love flexing our muscle.  There's your American Imperialism.

Now I don't get my information from the dozens of conflicting educators and history books or the thousands of conflicting accounts of events on the internet.  I get my information from the people who were there.  I had several family ancestors in the Civil War, from which my great-grandmother had a family diary/journal from a father and an uncle detailing their daily war time.  I had a great-grandfather in WW1, 2 grandfathers in WW2, 1 grandfather in Korea and 3 uncles in Vietnam (only 2 came back).  And I, myself, was a part of Desert Storm.  Live it then talk about it.  Respect the flag.

I'll agree DKC (and kap as well).  Though a totally different subject, I am an avid bowler.  I bowl 3 nights a week, with my highest average being 210.  By far not the best in town, or in the area for that matter, but high enough to know what the !@#$%^ I'm doing.  I love it (can you sense the sarcasm there???) when those with averages 30-40 pins (or more) less than mine trying to tell me what adjustments to make during league play.

By the way, I wold never ask anyone to support any war the U.S. has or is in.  It is your right as an American to support it or not.  But you should always support the American Soldier and the flag they fight under.
