Not interesting, just silly.  Why would OKC trade those guys for 40 games of Howard?  Howard's had plenty of chances to expand his "I'll resign with" list, but hasn't, so discussing trades to any other teams is silly, because nobody is going to pay Orlando's price to get him for 40 games.

I imagine they are willing to do it if he agrees to opt in for a 2nd year, and if he opts in for a 2nd year it's a no brainer.

if he expresses strong disinterest and insists on walking they could pass i guess, but really every team that would be elite with howard should be trying to get a year and a half and hope the winning is enough to keep him.

most notably, the clippers should try to offer blake griffin for dwight, but they're too f'n retarded to realize that it's a great idea.

Good god, what part of "would never happen" don't you understand? I wasn't bringing this up as a realistic scenario.

Then why post it?  Sure it would be fun to see Howard play with Durant Westbrook.  It would also be fun to see him play with Love and Rubio, or Griffin and Paul, or Dirk and Kidd, or how about Wade, LBJ and Bosh, but none of those are going to happen (at least this season) either, so why not keep it at least somewhat realist?  We have this entire site for What Ifs that never happened.

Why does Moranis post any of the trades he does?  So many of them fall into the 'would never happen' category, yet he continues to post.

What if the Magic traded:

Dwight Howard
Hedo
Jason Richardson
Jameer Nelson

to the

Washington Wizards for:

Javale McGee
Nick Young
John Wall
Rashard Lewis
Michael Jordan's expiring mystique

How long would it take for:

A:  Dwight Howard to offer $1,000,000 to Gilbert Arenas to find out where his cache of firearms are hidden in the Verizon Center so he can put two in the back of Nelson's head and JRich's gut?

B:  His airness to decide he can still put up 25 per night and attempt comeback number 3?

C:  John Wall to teach Mickey Mouse the Dougie?

D:  Rashard Lewis to get run out of town by Buzz Lightyear?

So it makes sense to you to for Minnesota to trade for a guy for about 40 games, but doesn't make sense for Orlando to trade for a guy that has a season and half left on his deal?
No what I'm saying is Orlando might feel much better about getting more people who have better contract situations, than one player that is always hurt and only has a year and a half left.
Okay, but why would Minnesota gut their team for half a season of Dwight Howard?

If you want another interesting offer that would never happen, how bout:

OKC receives Dwight Howard

ORL receives Kendrick Perkins, James Harden, Serge Ibaka, and Ryan Reid (for salary purposes)

Missed this post, but thought I would respond.  Why would Minnesota do it?  Because it is Minnesota a team that hasn't been to the playoffs in something like 8 years and has only ever won 2 playoff series in its entire history (both in the same season).  I imagine the uptick in interest in the team, ticket sales, jersey sales, etc. alone is worth it from a financial standpoint.  Not to mention, every playoff series is something like 10 million dollars in the owners pocket.  And maybe just maybe Dwight actually likes playing with Love and Rubio and decides to either opt in (giving you another year) or sign an extension (maybe not a full one, but perhaps 3 years).

Of course if Peckovic keeps churning out 20/10's, Williams keeps playing well, etc. maybe you don't want to gut your team for a half season rental.

Yeah and Minneapolis is a nice city and it is a lot bigger than most people think (16th biggest Met area in the country).  Sure it is cold (though it generally doesn't get as much snow as many NBA cities), but actually not a bad place to live.

And if it really is about winning then why not stick around with Kevin Love and Ricky Rubio.
2/18/2012 9:55 AM
because a) that's not a recipe for winning it all and b) minnesota sucks compared to half a dozen other options where winning could actually happen

I live in Minnesota, and I love it here.  Personally, Id rather have Kobe over Howard as we have our big man in the Eastern Blok (Pekovic)  I just overheard a little tidbit today from somewhere that the lakers should think about dealing Kobe and building around Bynum (sort of like the wolves are starting to do around Love).  I'd love to have a Pekovic-Love-Kobe-Rubio with an average SF and an average bench w/ Adelman coaching...

what you heard was an idiot named bucher hypothesizing about the impossible - please carve 30m worth of value from  your team and tell me how you're still competitive enough for Kobe to consider you a contender so he wont exercise his no trade clause

and please tell me why the Lakers who are a couple useful support players away from serious contention should blow it up and go into rebuild mode - they're the Lakers, they've been to the finals 3 times in the last 4 years (and half of the finals ever played) pardon them for not wanting to emulate the friggin T-Wolves
3/7/2012 11:00 AM

lol yeah the lakers are going to trade the face of their franchise for the past 15 years just to shake **** up since so many teams can match his $30M salary and include assets.

bucher's idiocy is always reaching new heights- never ceases to amaze me.

3/7/2012 9:31 PM
it wasnt espn nor the idiot named bucher...it was something someone posted on that facebook thingy that someone emailed me the link to.  Although I do agree that Ric Bucher is about the dumbest S.O.B. on tv when it comes to basketball (I can curse here right??) and thats not even counting the fact that ESPN is such a hypocricy network.  They made a big deal of spygate, now call spygate a splash in the water...PICK A STANCE ALREADY!!  Thats my vent.  Thanks, I shall wait for more dialouge.

ok whatever - probably that facebook (is that some sort of authoritative something? what kind of ****** world do I live in now?) source is linked back to or otherwise inspired by the bucher article but it continues to be ridiculous - nevertheless

in the spirit of dialogue

If the TWolves should stick with Love, Rubio (White Chocolate JRjr - said it here, said it now and go  ahead and review Jason Williams career before you get too excited) and maybe Derick Williams - while realizing that Adelman (who should be coaching the lakers (the one true clear cut Jim buss fail thus far)) is a great W generating coach with young talent and a whole lot grit/but you shouldnt assume you are on the way, because history)  because they are doing just ok in a season when youth gets you a couple extra Ws anyway too then are you assuming that they are on the way to something?

where are they really next season? with Love's new contract? about 44m + 6 cap hold

and

Peckovic/Darko
Love
Williams
WJhnson/ellington/lee
Rubio/Ridnour/Barea

as your lineup

(nice) with 6-8m maybe you can add Brook Lopez

(Dwyane and Lebron are shaking)

((and where are you the year after that?))
