Welcome to ELITE IV! This is the ultimate opportunity to try real ownership and management in WIS hockey. You start with a full snake draft (1-24/24-1) picking the best players you can to stack your team for 6 seasons of hard decisions on your way to championships or heartbreak. No clones are allowed in the whole league so if you have Gretzky, no one else will! Help build the league like a real manager by debating and voting on the future of the league. Do it right and you could take home 12 free seasons! One is awarded to the Stanley Cup champion as well as the President's Trophy winner. Do you have what it takes build a true dynasty?

"BACK IN" Thank you.

1. NO.
Though I hadn't really thought about it as an option before. With the ML draft there isn't much incentive to finish higher than 8th unless you have a shot at the PT.

2.YES
Would work well with the WW. Keep things changing.
The issue I see is if I have a (deliberately) so-so season to 8th place and then a playoff push to the cup, will my players salary adjustment not be based only on regular season?

3. YES
I think this could work. We could say any player can only be in our league once ever (we can have a complete alphabetical list in our forum). There could be a 2 point penalty just for claiming a player on the list (and forfeit for playing him of course). We could set a maximum number of claims per season to make it easier on the commish.
The WW could allow us the slash the budget more drastically each season, keeping things fresh.

What do think of a fairly high cap to begin with so we can draft 23 stars and quite a drastic budget drop each season employing the WW and pushing owners to want to trade players they may lose next season anyway (due to budget constraints)?

Welcome Peter! Thanks for your input. I am going to wait for a few more to come in then look at the overall opinions. I am currently looking into Wavier Wire options for the league. More to come.

Thanks campbell. I'm easy on the rules. Hard to know how changes will play out until we've tried it.

All part of the fun of it. I hope to get more ideas in and talked about this season.

I'm back. Paying attention this time.

1. No ML

2. Budget could be consistent with team ranking. Budget lowers for teams that finish higher; conversely budget goes up or does not change for the bottom feeders. OR start with a 125m to 150m budget and lower it by 5m each season.

3. Yes to WW. If someone drops Gretzky, though, he could be available if he comes up on the wire to other owners. Reason: owners may just drop him near the end of the season if they are in last just to get him out of the league for good. Strict penalties to owners who abuse WW rules.

4. Add GOONS. Each team must draft a player with 250 to 350 PIMs and play every game unless suspended (not injured, then guys draft low GP% to avoid the PIMs.

5. Add FREE AGENCY PERIOD. Any player not in the league can be signed. Teams from the bottom up get priority to sign FA.

That's all.

So you are in then kiteport?

I'm back. Yes.

I would like to come back with 2 teams again.

My answer is NO to all the questions - I think the ML's are ridiculous as you have an entire Defense rated 100 by season 5 on. We should play with the players drafted only. I don't think a waiver wire would work, unless it was an exclusive one where only players available would be ones who were not drafted. I also believe that the budget should remain static - we should be able to draft the best versions of the players we draft (i.e. no budget restrictions) and then tweak our team through trades if you don't want the players. Just my 2 cents.

I would like to come in with TWO teams as well.

I understand what Tony is saying; however, we just played 7 seasons where nothing really happened or changed. Nothing really challenging. Would be much more fun and entertaining with a few gimmicks thrown in to keep us interested and active on a more regular basis.

WW: My understanding is that the WW is only for players that are not on other teams. Not for just any player.

Thoughts...

Welcome back!

Ok, so here is my perspective on things so far.

1. I am fine either way with the MLers and the draft. Though I see it as an opportunity to bring rookies in the league the actual balance and development of these players is unrealistic which is the intention of this league...realism. I would vote no.

2. I think a change to the budget plan will make it more realistic. A progressive decrease to work with the salary decreases would bring the budget more into play forcing more thought in trades etc. I think this should remain across the board with no favoritism shown to those who were higher or lower in the standings. Equal opportunity to manage within the same parameters is also a philosophy of this league. I vote yes.

3. I don't think the WW will be an option for ELITE IV though it might be. It will take more management on my part and I think it will make it more interesting for everyone. I will vote yes but not count on it happening right away.

4. This is a non-gimmick league. It is geared towards realism so kiteport, sorry your #4 is a no.

5. I like the idea of adding free agency. I will look into that further but like the WW, not likely to happen this league. I will look into that more for ELITE V. I'd be interested in seeing FAs and WW happen simutaneously. If I get things set properly there should be enough controls in place to limit cloning errors. Any misuse of it will not be tolerated anyway. Sportsmanship IS expected in this league so I don't expect to have to create a list of punishments.

6. If we vote for budget decrease should we increase the opening budget? We will look at that question if we decide to have MLers out. It will change how we do the initial draft.

7. A past proposal is also out there. Should this be a player progressive league? I think making this progressive might make it a lot more interesting but a lot more work season to season. If we went with this proposal I would eliminate the 6 seasons and go one season at a time but still ask for a long term commitment details of which I would work out with WIS. I don't want people jumping ship every season.

Thought and ideas are welcome. Please use my numbering to respond.

Thanks
Campbell

One more note. Those wishing to have a second team are now shortlisted in order of first come first listed. If we decide to go that route owners will be added based on that order
