kyleb63, I answered your question but this update moved the pages - so also for the benefit of anyone else interested - the AAA do not count toward the $70 million anymore than they do in an OL. Their official value is the usual 200K.

Just aother question about AAA.Is there a salary mmax for these guydearted AAA?Or an I draft 6  added 6 million dollar guys?It sees an unlimites salary wouldrun against the them of the league.

They are average AAA players, that is who will come up when you finish drafting your first 25. It could be that you find such players and if you do you are welcome to them. They do not add to or count against the $70 million salary cap, anymore than AAA players do in an OL. Their official value is 200K.

But they must conform to the PA, IP restrictions and the SB and HR/9 limits. Otherwise, whoever you find is ok. The idea is that these would be precisely people you might want to use to substitute for drafted starters who are under-performing after two-thirds of the season.  Most players will be in a platoon system most likely, but whatever strategy you can work out is fine.

This is not that un-realistic. Willie Mays got called up during a season. Derek Jeter played because Tony Fernandez did a Wally Pipp impression in 1996.

As to the theme, it is not low paid players. It is needing to use your whole team - all 25 players, plus a few more. That the players in some cases are very good happens in real baseball.

To give an idea, the two pitchers I selected are people who were stars in other seasons, and have 170 IP total between them, with ERCs (non-normalized) at around 3.30.

I got a second baseman from a WS team with 400+ PA and a .250 batting average, one OF with over 400 PA and a rougly .270 BA and around 15 HRs, and a 3B with a .230 average, again 400 PA and 10-15 HRs. So I don't think we are getting Babe Ruth 1929 here. I don't see a problem. These players are maybe just not quite as good as most of my starting players, but if some of those don't come through, one or more of these guys might find themselves called up and starting.

my final AAA question. If i swlect severl 5 Million dollar players for AAA.I bring those guys up at game 110,must I replace $5 million of salary from my original picks?can I keep my AAA guys throuh the rest of te season?
6/24/2012 3:07 PM
I think there is a misunderstanding. I am not sure that any average AAA players cost $5 million or $6 million - according to the great "AAA-just the charts" post - the salary range of average AAA - the ones that are available in any OL is from $1.75 mil to $2.6 mil for position players, from $950K to $1.85 mil for starting pitchers and a little less than that for relief pitchers.

After you have drafted 25 players, you will get a prompt to draft up to 6 position players and up to 2 pitchers, as happens in any "you pick 'em AAA" league. But first you have to put the league number in - so if you are starting with an ordinary OL draft center, click "change league option" then click on "existing theme league" and put the league number: MLB101175 in, and then click to return to the draft center. Once you have drafted 25 players, you will have the option to pick AAA players, but the only ones that will come up will be the ones within those average AAA parameters, no $6 million men I am afraid.

But the answer to the other part of your question is no, just as AAA players in no way count against the $80 million salary cap in an ordinary OL, these do not affect in any way the $70 million cap. They "don't count" as it were - HOWEVER, remember that if you make it to the World Series in this league, these players ACTUAL salaries, not 200K, will count toward the salary limit of the TOC you are placed in, IF AND ONLY IF they are still on your major league roster after the transaction deadline and the end of the season, otherwise they do not affect it in any way.

HOWEVER (2), since this is a $70 mil. salary cap league, if there is a $ 70 million salary cap TOC (which having been in only one WS ever I don't know) you are only eligible for it if you have NO AAA on your roster at the end of the season, since for TOC purposes ONLY this would count towards pushing your overall team budget over $70 million and rounding up put it into an $80 million TOC instead. So if that matters to you you want to think about that once the season is going on but it is not a factor until the transaction deadline hits.

I hope this has not confused anyone further. But I think this should be straightforward now. Good luck.
