THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS!!!!! Topic

So to put this in some kind of scale...

The Magna Carta and Mayflower Compact are examples of sets of rules for a society to live by.

As are the Ten Commandments.

Should we apply a special rule to the Commandments just because they are religious in nature? Can we show the MC and MC in public, but we must ban the Commandments?

I think all of those documents should be treated the same; just because one of them is also religious in nature does not mean it gives up its historical and cultural significance.

The problem is the atheists want to shun anything that has to do with religion and make the government atheist.

The Magna Carta is much different than the Ten Commandments.

It's the actual basis for common and constitutional law. The Ten Commandments aren't.

BL you really do need to look up the historical significance of the ten commandments as the basis for laws in many societies, including modern America.

I think it's three without perjury.

Murder, theft and, in some states, adultery.

I'm not going to explain everything to someone who clearly doesn't even understand the subject matter enough to be involved in the debate in the first place. Go get a clue and then maybe you can talk with the grown ups.

The 10 Commandments is a group of laws. It helped establish a societal norm for free men. Clearly it is very simple and more based on religion than government but it is a start.

Can we not accept the impact of it and allow it as part of our cultural history?
