Posted by swamphawk22 on 10/11/2012 6:51:00 PM (view original):So lets analyze what each candidate needs to accomplish tonight. Biden (crazy Joe): Biden needs to do 2 things. He needs to stop the flood to the other side and set the tone for the recovery. Biden cannot look crazy or gaffe. He doesnt need to be great. He doesnt really need to win. He CANNOT appear to lose. He needs to draw even at least. And even is pretty big ground. So that will be his goal. He needs to raise some issues that Obama can focus on. He needs to make the Romney plan look complex, and unworkable. He does need at least one "Crazy Joe" moment. He needs a line where he shocks the crowd and zings Ryan. Biden needs a "You are no Jack Kennedy" line. Paul Ryan (Techno Wonk): Ryan has to win. No doubt about it. If Ryan cannot beat Biden, even if it is just by a field goal, the next debate become all or nothing for Romney. If Ryan wins it is all or nothing for Obama in the next one. So what does Ryan need to do. He needs to be warm and cuddly. He needs to discuss the framework for saving America. He needs to point out a path that is smart, but isnt cruel. He cannot get too technical. He cannot get pushed into a corner where he talks about the tough measures that need to happen. All in all Ryan has a little bigger task for tonight. Biden, as always, is the wild card. If he comes out swinging as Crazy Joe the Debate could go south for him quick. If he can control the rage and be as clever and funny as he can be Ryan could be on the ropes. Prediction....Biden blows it by being too aggresive and makes a gaffe and Ryan just plays ball control. Republicans by 7.5
I hope you didn't bet the house....and you almost nailed the prediction of you're no Jack Kennedy line.
