OK, let me put a reserve on Matt Williams (43.5) and Frank Chance (43.5).

I'll continue to explore, but on the surface, this pairing looks pretty good.

Check out the 2005 voting, JIM ABBOTT got more votes than Darryl Strawberry, Jack McDowell, and Chili Davis.

87-108 w-l record, ERA+ of 99

But he did have two hits, which is pretty remarkable... but I don't see Pete Gray in the HOF.

I will select another pair, but Shoeless Joe received less than 5% of the vote in his first year of eligibility and should have been removed from future consideration per the HOF rules, but alas he was given a second shot.  Missed that.

How about Bobby Grich (67.3) screwed over in 1992 and Bobby Heilmann (67.3) inducted in 1952

Bobby Hull played hockey, Bobby Unser drove Indy, and Bobby Fischer played chess.  Don't know any jockeys

Welcome Toddcommish, professorjon, and got_worms. I'll get the league page updated soon.

In your rules description, when you say you're cutting it off at 35 WAR does that mean we can't select players with a career WAR under 35?

Not to play commissioner, but I would also suggest opening it up to pitchers otherwise it could be tough to fill a 24 team league unless you are allowing duplicate selections.

Also, why not require all players on your roster be teammates of your pair.  That definitely fits within the spirit of the theme & shouldn't be hard for people to fill.

I agree with GotWorms.  [and I didn't even notice the position player restriction; i just got lucky]

Since they have accumulated a significant amount of WAR, they've had long enough careers to have enough teammates to build a team [Matt Williams and Frank Chance had 23 position player teammates under $300K].

My pitching choices are limited since my player pool consists of mid 1990's Rockies P's...

What I mean is that the player you pick who was snubbed by the hall of fame has to be above 35 WAR. The hall of fame player that goes in tandem with him would likely then also be above 35 WAR, but doesn't necessarily have to. Any other players you select can be any teammates of any of the two players. It doesn't matter how good tor bad the teammates were. I'll check the wording of the original post, but it's supposed to be that all players are teammates of the pair you choose. I'm not sure where there was any ambiguity to that.

I went through the list of WAR leaders for position players to ensure there were more than 24 players who qualified. There should be plenty of options for owners to choose from.

You must choose at least 10 teammates of each player and the ballpark must be one your snub played in. Other than that, I'm pretty lax on the other requirements for your team = ambiguity!

Also, are we using a DH?
12/9/2012 3:33 PM
No DH. Sorry, I thought I included that in there. Updated.

Willie Randolph 63.0 (1.1% in 1998) and Duke Snider 63.1

Welcome, specsman. That looks like a good pair of players to use.
