2009-2013 Progressive Eliminator Draft Thoughts Topic

Some details on how everyone's placed for 2009. Not necessarily indicative of anything of course. (I certainly don't belong at the top - it's just the draft order heh).

Bargearse - this is interesting and a little scary, at least for my Yankees.  Even though my average salaries for both pitching and hitting, our ERC# and avg OPS numbers are not good.  This says if my defense doesn't hold, I am in trouble right away.  Question are the numbers average or weighted average for ERC# and for OPS?

1/2/2013 9:40 PM
The ERC and OPS numbers are weighted, the wages are a simple average.

I hadn't really looked too closely at any one team, but you've definitely got great D across the board which explains the high hitter wages relative to OPS. Not sure why the pitcher wage's are that different, although your ERC is around the middle and you don't have any low inning scrubs.

The ERC numbers don't take any account of how each pitcher will be used either - Parra's 140 IP at an ERC# of 6.35 skews your numbers a fair bit, but if he pitches a fair few of those in mop up say, it's not going to have too much of an effect on your win total.

So it doesn't tell anywhere near the whole story, but yeah, interesting. I was glad to see I'm not too far off most people's IP's despite having to scramble a bit. My staff is going to be very high maintenance though and I have to hope there's a few usable guys left when the draft finally gets back to me again.

We are so close to being done.  I am really interested in the season starting...  Good Luck everybody.

OK, so based upon the current rosters, I am going out on a limb with my predictions for division winners, since I am not out to make enemies, I will not identify who I think are closest to elimination in year 1.  I also will not include my team in the predictions and since the divisional assignments are not in yet, I am simply going to pick 4 AL teams and 4 NL teams as potential playoff teams in 2009.

I decided to wimp out, too hard to narrow both leagues down to 4 teams right now, thus I am going with 6 teams in each league.  I believe these 6 teams will be have the most wins in 2009.
