Mattingly, Need 2, Let's get this thing going! Topic

Mattingly is looking for some veteran, committed owners to take over the available franchises in the world. There are a number of really good franchises available, including the top two franchises in terms of post season success. There's a real good opportunity here to return some of these teams to the level of success they've become accustomed to.

World Mattingly has two rules:

1. Five/Ten Absence Rule

Any team can be removed if it fails to log in for five calendar days during pre-season activities or ten calendar days during the regular season without telling the commissioner about the absence beforehand.

2. Minimum Win Rule

Any team CAN be removed if it fails to maintain a cumulative .350 winning percentage over the course of consecutive seasons. Considerations for rebuilding teams, replacement owners, and owners who the league deems to be fielding a competitive team will be made. Teams who repeatedly field fatigued pitchers and players will be considered strong candidates for removal under this rule. The aim of this rule is not to punish teams that are in a rebuild or transitional period, rather, to punish owners who are blatantly tanking for the sole purpose of stocking draft picks and international free agents.

Available Teams:

===========================================

Wichita Trains - AL North - 78-84

Wichita has had three straight third place finishes in the competitive AL North. There is a good amount of talent on this team, but no superstars to speak of. Adding an impact bat or arm could mean the difference for this team.

===========================================

Kansas City Red Birds - AL South - 50-112

After a long run that included 6 division titles, this franchise has fallen on hard times. The team has talent in the field but lacks a go to guy on the mound. There are pieces here that can be used as trade bait if you want to rebuild, along with the first pick of the draft.
============================================

Scottsdale Bombers - AL West - 93-69

A very solid franchise here with a World Series title counted among five division titles and 13 total playoff appearances, including a standing streak of 12 straight appearances. The success of this team is very much a function of the solid pitching. Most of the pitchers are now veterans, but another run to the playoffs seems like a given with the current roster.

============================================

Helena Bisons - AL West - 89-73

One of the most decorated franchises in the world's history - 3 World Series titles in 6 WS appearances, and 16 total playoff appearances - this franchise has only missed the playoffs in 4 of the 20 seasons. This team is far from being on tough times, finishing just four games out of the wildcard. This team is balanced, with both veterans and youngsters. Great opportunity to resurrect a storied franchise.
============================================

Burlington Average Joe's - NL North - 69-93

This franchise has not seen the post season in 9 years, can you return them to the promised land? Some contract and arbitration decisions need to be made for this franchise. It would seem this franchise is ripe for a rebuild or a free agent spending spree.

=============================================

Boston Green Monsters - NL East - 61-101

Not a lot of talent on this team, save for Oleg Clinton, a 26 year old stud to build around. There's no beating around the bush here, this team needs an overhaul, and an early pick in the draft may just be the start.

=============================================

Florida Irish - NL South - 94-68

This franchise is in the midst of a 7 season streak of making the playoffs but has had limited success in the post season. This franchise features a very solid pitching staff, all under contract that allows for an extended look at a title. Some work may need to be done to bring in or re-sign some of the impact hitters, but this franchise may just be a big bat away from a deep run.

=============================================

Honolulu Islanders - NL West - 86-76

Not often do you see a division winner abandoned, alas, this team has won the division two seasons in a row and has made the playoffs each of the last 3 seasons. The success of this team falls on the shoulders of the pitching staff, and, though there is some talent in the field, the incoming owner needs to look at making some moves for some support at the plate for a team that didn't hit consistently last year.

==============================================

Los Angeles Mangolds - NL West - 67-95

THE most decorated franchise in this world, 17 playoff appearances, 13 division titles, 6 World Series titles in 10 appearances. This franchise has represented the NL 50% of the time in the World Series. Truly, a storied franchise. Unfortunately, Season 20 marked the teams second worst season finish ever. The team is vet laden, which did not result in success for the last owner. Every facet of this team needs to be evaluated. Can you be the one to return this great franchise to the top of the league?

This is a very good world. I'm very surprised that we have this many openings. Usually it's less than 4. Economics? I don't know, but there are a lot of great teams available.
