So every year at this time you hear of companies like Facebook getting hundreds of millions in tax refunds.

Would it end society as we know it, if there a cap to how much someone could get back? Like $10M?

Every year you heat about how some government agency wasted money or is paying for some useless program.

Would it end society as we know it if we cut spending by 2 trillion over the next 10 years?

I think it would be great if we could cut spending like that.

I also think it would be nice if, while the average citizens gets a hike in their taxes, billion dollar corporations don't get hundreds of millions in tax refunds.

I know it is important to incentivize, I back that 100%.

But 100s of millions?

Is that much incentive really justifiable at all, under any circumstance, much less during a recession?

And to get back to the original idea here, I'll give you a local example.

A company my brother works for (small business < 500 people) is deciding what to do with the upcoming AHCA in 2014. The company can stay with the great insurance package they have now , which will cost them more money, or they can pass the cost increase on to their employees, OR they can get on one of the government plans and get a subsidy check from Uncle Sam.

So basically they are just pushing for everyone to get enrolled in the National program, which is what the whole thing has been about since it was first started. A sneaky back door way to start a govt. run health care system.

Which is a really great idea since all of us can look around and see how very efficiently and marvelously all the other government programs have been run to date.

Why don't we ask those veterans if they feel like their taxes are "marginal?"

I think someone is confusing communist with socialist.

Heard Obama selling the same "compromise" crap again.

Corect me if I am wrong, but didnt the Pubs give him his tax increases in January, and we were just supposed to do the cuts now?

I would hate to call out Obama as being a liar if it wasnt true!

You're wrong. Bush/Obama tax cuts ending and the sequester are two different things.

You'd think the Republican Party that screams about deficit reduction (only when they aren't in the White House) would actually put all methods on the table, instead of crying when increased tax rates on the wealthy are proposed.

Tax rates on the wealthy went up in January. That was the deal. We rais ethe taxes now and make a deal on the cuts later.

We got the taxes, now where are the cuts?

Not sure what that has to do with the efficiency of government run hospitals.

Oh, that's right, it doesn't have to have anything to do with anything in any thread.    Tell me about the scientific proof that goes against young earth theories.  God knows that's not in enough threads now.

Happens every time.
Which is all the more reason the repubs/tea party are dead set against it.

History has repeatedly shown the "cuts to come later" never actually materialize.
Oh but they'll spend that extra revenue faster than you can_____ (fill in your own blank).

Isn't it great that at the first sign of something that looks like it isn't going to go Obama's way he starts up with the scare tactics that people are going to lose their jobs or will get furloughed 1 day a month and blah, blah, blah. Seems that if it is government money that is being cut that it will only be government jobs that will be cut or furloughed and all the BS that goes with it. In the end......... smaller government = less government control = not to Obama's liking. Note to the Repubs, it's all your fault if you allow the sequester to happen, even though Obama agreed to it last year.

2/26/2013 5:05 PM
The sequester is a stupid way to run the government. They should trash it and go back to passing budgets.

Vote.....them.....out.
