Religion has no bearing on my opposition to gay marriage.

I'm guessing that there's a lot of people who also can form their own opinions without the influence of religious institutions.
You're lying to yourself if you think that the vast majority of opposition to gay marriage isn't based on religion.

I guess you have special insight into the minds of half the U.S. population.  That's impressive.

Do you know any other tricks?

I don't have any more special insight than you do.

It offends those who find it an abomination of tradition and of the meaning of "marriage".

In today's politically correct society, we're not supposed to offend anybody.

Why are gays so insensitive by insisting that they need to be married?
Offense is not harm or a good reason to make something illegal.

Interracial marriage offends those who find it an abomination of tradition and the meaning of marriage.
Why are interracial couples so insensitive by insisting that they need to me married?
There are much fewer people who are offended by interracial marriage than there are by gay marriage.

Anyways, interracial marriage has not been uncommon throughout the course of human history.  Do you deny that?

The concept of gay marriage is a recent phenomenon.  Do you deny that?

Looks like you have some special insight into everyone's mind yourself.

OK, great, so people get equal rights if they only offend a small portion of the population and if want they want isn't a relatively new concept (for them, not for everyone else).

Awesome.

Fo sho. Today most people aren't offended by interracial marriage but tec knows for sure that only a small percentage of the population was offended by interracial marriage in 1967. Which is why the ban was lifted by voter referendum and didn't have to be fought all the way to the Supreme Court.

Small portion?   Almost half?

Anyway, I don't think you get to decide what offensive action harms others.

Try to keep up, short bus.

Three grown men start dropping N-bombs on a sole black 7 y/o kid at a bus stop.

Offensive but not harmful?

Oh, are you comparing the social acceptance of IRM in 1967 to the social acceptance of SSM in 2013?

Can I play that game too?

How about the social acceptance of SSM in 1967 compared to the social acceptance of IRM in 2013?

If you want to make comparisons within the same year, in which year would SSM have more social acceptance than IRM?  1967 or 2013?

Why do you assume marriage is a "right"?

Haven't we had that conversation before?

That's stupid. You see that, right?
6/18/2013 10:21 PM
Of course it's stupid.

I was wondering why you were going there, until I remembered that it's you.
