You're not answering the question, BL.

How many school/theater shooting rampages happen every day?
It seems to happen once every couple of months.  Not every day.
So, if it happens every couple of months, it's not an overreaction?

"WE/I GOTTA DO SOMETHING!!!" reaction.

Newtown was a tipping point.

Why are you resurrecting that argument here?

Perhaps this was a tipping point for gun ownership for danzig6.

Are you in charge of tipping points?

If he feels that he wants or needs to get a weapon for personal protection, then he should do it.  He shouldn't listen to me or to you for validation of his own decisions.

Of course he shouldn't.   But you called his thought process an "overreaction" based on a situation that didn't happen every day.

I was just looking for some insight into your thought process.   I think I got it.    I'd describe it as "muddled".

Thanks.

In my opinion, it is an overreaction.  Random **** can happen anywhere, any day.  That's why it's "random".  You can't be prepared for every sngle possible situation that life may throw at you.

Unless the threat for random possible violence is a pervasive occurrence in your life, reacting to one situation with an "OMG, I need to do something now!!!" is overreacting.

As I said, "muddled".  At best.
