The Cars League - FULL Topic

1.When I graduated from high school in 1967, my parents bought me my first car to send me off to college.....a 1963 Chevy convertible.

2.After graduating from college in 1971, I bought my first car on my own, a 1971 Chevy Camaro.

3. My fav car ever was my 1985 Mercury Cougar....wish I had kept it and turned it into an antique later.

4. I still have my 1999 Dodge Caravan...the benches are out of the back, and I call it my combined pick up truck and rolling storage shed. LOL

5. Our 2007 Toyota Prius gets 48.2 MPG.

So my years are 1963, 1971, 1985, 1999, and 2007.

1974 Ford Maverick Grabber - my first car, hand-me-down from my brother.  Bright orange.  Lost my virginity in it.

1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback - another hand-me-down, had been sitting in the garage for nine years when a buddy and I rebuilt it after high school.

1989 Mercedes SL500 - my first Mercedes, hated giving it up in the divorce.

1999 Dodge Caravan - needed a big car for my two Irish Wolfhounds.

2004 Mercedes SL500 - what I drive now; love it after fifteen years of driving a mini-van.

1965, 1974, 1989, 1999, 2004

My list of cars is not too exciting:

1967 Green Dodge Dart - handed down by my mom.  Lasted until the guys who gave it a complete tune-up ... uh ... forgot to add oil.  The engine froze on the Garden State Parkway as I was driving home for Thanksgiving break.  Ended up getting $50 for it from the junk guys because I had just put new speakers in it.

1986 Chevy Chevette - this baby drove me through the Rocky mountains (well, not really; but I did use it in Boulder for 2 years).  The drove it cross country to georgia, where I kept it another 16 years.

1999 Mazda Protege - for my wife, to replace her Toyota Tercel.  Still going strong with 115K+ miles.

2000 Honda Accord - technically my mom's car, but, since she can't drive anymore, it's now sitting in our driveway (and only has 40K miles on it!).

2003 Mazda6 - Had to get a real car when my daughter was born, so I ditched the Chevette and got this, V6 stick version.  When I test drove it (remember, I had a CHEVETTE for 18 years), it felt like I was in a rocket.  Still going strong today, with more than 110K miles.

So, that's 1967, 1986, 1999, 2000, 2003.

Welcome SophieGiants! ... those Dart/Valiants were great cars.  The slant-6 engines could go forever (provided they had enough oil).

Count me in!

1974 Ford Mustang II - Powder Blue, 4 speed manual.  $400 in 1985, lasted until sometime in 1987.   More bondo then metal... I sure beat the hell out of that car, but it was fairly reliable (more then half the time ;)

1982 Datsun B210, Metallic Silver, 5 speed manual.   $2400 in 1987.   Fitted/attached 2 kick-*** speakers from my home stereo system into the hatch, blasted that sucker out!     Got in a few bang-ups, and again drove it into the ground, sold it for $500 in 1990 when I graduated from college.

1985 Plymouth Turismo, Red, Automatic.   $2500 in 1990, was still running well when I sold it for $2000 in 1992.

1992 Saturn sedan - Red, 5 speed Manual.   My first brand new car, ~ 12-13K.   Always very reliable, sold it for $1500 in 2000 with 116K on it.

Not sure if i'm using my 2000 Passat or my wife's 2003 Honda Pilot.

2000 Volkswagon Passat , 6 cyl , tiptronic all-wheel drive, Black-  Only 90K , and still hanging in there.

or

2003 Honda Pilot - Silver, Automatic.    Traded in in 2011 for 4500, with 120 K.
