Friday Trivia Question Topic

OK I'm working from home right now, and I have a fun trivia book. Probably most of these are too hard without looking them up. I'll try to find some that people would actually know:

Reggie Jackson is remembered for hitting 3 HR's in a World Series game.

Which Pirates slugger hit 3 home runs in Game 2 of the 1971 NLCS?

A. Willia Stargell
B. Al Oliver
C. Bob Robertson
D. Roberto Clemente

Maybe that one's too obscure, I'll ask another as well. PS the book was published in 2007.

Who has the most career HR by a switch hitter in NL history?

Bob Robertson.

I was in sixth grade.  Our teacher, Sister Mary Catherine, was originally from Pittsburgh and a big Pirates fan.  We watched the game in school on a B&W TV she brought into the classroom that day.

There ya go! I picked the right question then!
PS I got it wrong when I guessed.

12/13/2013 2:01 PM
Yeah, it was a trick question.  Nobody would pick Robertson over the other 3 if they didn't know.

No idea on NL career homers.
12/13/2013 2:03 PM
Think Bob Robertson missed a bunt sign one of them????
12/13/2013 2:09 PM
FWIW, I got that one right. A lucky guess, of course, but one that makes sense.
12/13/2013 2:09 PM
Well, since you said your book was from 2007, I'd say Reggie Smith(although I'm not sure he was NL-only) from LA/STL but I think he spent time on Boston.   Otherwise, it has to be Chipper.   Chili Davis would be a guess but he played with the Angels too.
12/13/2013 2:19 PM
If it's someone pre-70s, I have no idea.
12/13/2013 2:21 PM
Chipper is correct, even in 2007.

With a career fielding percentage of .9958, who is the all-time leader among AL first basemen? (hint it's not some obscure fielding-only guy)

12/13/2013 2:22 PM
John Olerud
12/13/2013 2:25 PM
No kidding?   If you take Chipper's pre-2007 total it's still more than Smith?    Smith must have spent more time in the AL than I thought.

1B has to be Mattingly or Hernandez.   Two best fielding 1B I've seen.
12/13/2013 2:25 PM
Ha.  Smith spent 8 seasons in Boston and 9 in the NL.
12/13/2013 2:27 PM
Yea, Smith played 8 years in Boston it appears.  It's funny, when I hear his name I think Dodgers.
