I don't get the concept. Your last for players are chosen by another owner, but what are the constraints? Are you trying to waste 4 roster spots while reducing each other's effective payroll? But some of the choices I've seen here don't seem to follow that strategy (e.g., koji uehara, babe Ruth)

Okay Koji Uehara is a 4.7 million closer who may or may not be effective and reduces the ability to field a quality Pitching staff at other Relief pitcher positions or may reduce your ability to use other more effective years of a player on your roster. The same goes with 1918 Ruth or the 1953 Ted Williams --- though they may appear to be quality selections to the naked eye -- it forces you to spend dollars on platoon players -- instead of spending money on say a better option like a 9 million dollar outfielder. I hope this helps clarify things for you.You are trying to waste 4 roster spots ( and as close to 20 million in payroll, as you can.) I will sitemail you my roster as an example.

Fergie Jenkins 1967 Chicago Cubs SP $7,840,280 Dave McNally 1968 Baltimore Orioles SP $9,703,299 Jim Palmer 1972 Baltimore Orioles SP $8,471,870 Robin Roberts 1965 Baltimore Orioles SP $2,362,961 Moe Drabowsky 1966 Baltimore Orioles RP $3,243,300 Dick Hall 1963 Baltimore Orioles RP $3,177,944 Billy Hoeft 1965 Chicago Cubs RP $1,347,742 Stu Miller 1966 Baltimore Orioles RP $3,106,136 Carl Scheib 1951 Philadelphia Athletics RP $5,287,607 Bill Short 1966 Baltimore Orioles RP $843,121 Koji Uehara 2013 Boston Red Sox RP $4,701,441 Andy Etchebarren 1975 California Angels C $924,810 Randy Hundley 1967 Chicago Cubs C $4,520,396 John Boccabella 1970 Montreal Expos 1B $727,093 Boog Powell 1970 Baltimore Orioles 1B $5,933,775 Glenn Beckert 1974 San Diego Padres 2B $635,032 Brooks Robinson 1964 Baltimore Orioles 3B $6,847,345 Jerry Adair 1966 Baltimore Orioles SS $335,578 Luis Aparicio 1961 Chicago White Sox SS $4,460,307 Frankie Crosetti 1939 New York Yankees SS $5,139,869 Paul Blair 1977 New York Yankees OF $881,957 Adolfo Phillips 1966 Chicago Cubs OF $3,932,612 Frank Robinson 1961 Cincinnati Reds OF $7,326,384 Billy Williams 1961 Chicago Cubs OF $3,668,607 Ted Williams 1953 Boston Red Sox OF $4,166,568 You can see that the Ted Williams year has forced me to use a different year of Billy Williams then I would have liked and Carl Scheib has forced me to use Robin Roberts as well to fill in my rotation and Uehara caused me to go cheaper on my bullpen then I would have liked, it also altered the years I could use in my starting rotation.
