The minimum I'd like to see:

Every fall when the new crop of players is added to the database, WIS does a simultaneous dynamic pricing adjustment to every player in the database.  Well, maybe not every player, but let's say the most heavily used players (Joss, HoJo, etc.) and those who never get used.  Make the former group more expensive, the latter cheaper.

At the very least Open Leagues would be a hell of a lot more interesting than they are now.

I agree. I'd love to see some degree of supply and demand incorporated into the players salaries. It would self-correct the problem of cookies.

I am not in favor of "dynamic pricing".  The formula for the pricing should be updated more frequently, that would solve the problem.

That would be my preference, too.  However, if it's "nothing" vs. "dynamic pricing," I'll take the latter.

I've always been against dynamic pricing.....

But truthfully, it is the one thing that would keep the site fresh.

The only issue is:  It rally only works at $80m level.  If we all had the same price level, then dynamic pricing works.

Is there a way to view just World Series statistics?  As it stands now, all playoff stats are combined and it's not possible to view World Series stats separately.

Another search function in the draft center I'd like available is to sort statistics ascending, instead of just descending. I believe the only ascending option is salary but it would be helpful to not just search by the highest number, but the lowest numbers as well.

For example, I wanted to search for the highest ERA/WHIP/OAV/HR/9 in the database for pitchers but the only way I could figure out how to do it was to put in a range in the Stat Criteria box.

When you click on a column heading in the draft center it only sorts ascending.  Does anybody know of a way to look at stats in descending order without a custom search?

ever wonder what the end will look like.????

will the rats lead the way - like during a flood or on sinking ships?

will their be a " wis is too big to fail "  bailout, from somewhere else???

will wis offer ( or bribe) all of us with more discounts .......
??

will the open leagues, with all the joss's and cookies ever stop...??

will we ever hear the real story - like unemployment , where the numbers stated always sem to go down/ yet so many more friends, neighbors are without work - or have totally given up.... or just taking the gov't handouts.....

ooohhhh the quietness in the sim these days........
3/31/2014 12:37 PM

This is probably the wrong spot for this post but at least it will possibly start some debate and end the "quietness".

The following are my Pitching stats from perhaps the worst team I've ever had. Very frustrating season. Look at the walks issued (SIM) vs. R/L stats.
In my continuing quest to learn this game I bring this debate to the long term "pros". I've had this debate where I contended that there were too many walks in the WIS SIM program and been fairly quickly "shut down" and stats were used to argue against my position. I admit--my too many walks theory is based on nothing but personal observation and anecdotal stats, but..................
Check this out. My pitchers stats from a 140 Mil. Theme league. (I may not win 50 games!!)

I would greatly appreciate any of you more knowledgable owners explaining to me where I went wrong when drafting these arms.
I thought I'd have the best pitching staff I'd ever assembled.  LOL, not so much.  It is very hard to win games when you walk so many batters every game.

I certainly didn't think these Pitchers would ALL exceed their R/L walk stats by this much----all across the board.

What am I not seeing?  Why am I wrong for contending that there is too many walks in this SIM program?

Sorry for the intrusion into this thread.  I've only played here a couple of years and I've just about concluded that the only leagues I find realistic enough to enjoy are the progressives.  I've yet to have a decent performing open or theme league squad.  I mean decent as in----"playing up to the players R/L stats".

I am not meaning to complain--just looking for answers.  I do enjoy the Triple ERA progressive league immensely!!   Very fun!

An avg ML team gets 500-high 600 BB per season.  Looks at some of the teams you are facing, their batters all got walked 800-1000 times during their respective seasons....I believe the batter influences the PA more than the pitcher, so if the batter already walks a lot, and your pitcher is prone to walks, it adds up quick

That's a very plausible explanation.  Backed by good evidence. I didn't realize that my 23 opponents had such inflated walks taken at the plate.

My resulting question would then be why should/does?  "the batter influences the PA more than the pitcher,"   as you stated.

Seems to me that no real advantage should be inherent in the SIM algorithum---as it relates to the very most basic of "matchups"----that of hitter vs. Pitcher.
On what basis do you contend that the SIM favors batter influence over pitcher's R/L result---and WHY would the SIM want to do that??
That would seem to intentionally and purposefully alter performances in a very unrealistic fashion.  Giving inflated hitting results.  Does that happen here?

At 140M, your pitchers are going to do worse across the board.  140M is more than double the salary of the average real life team (go ahead and load up some 2013 teams in your draft center to get a feel for what a real team is worth).

If you look at your pitchers' performance histories in OL's, the walks are pretty reasonable.  Still higher than real life #'s, but of course OL teams are also quite a bit better than the average real life team (80M plus AAA, so we're probably talking around 90M in salary for most OL teams).

Seriously, if what you're after is sim stats that resemble real life stats, join a single season prog, or a theme league with a 60-80 (no AAA) salary cap.

1. The batter has more control on the outcome of the at bat then the pitcher. I think it is a 55/45 split. I don't know if why was ever stated but that is what it is.

2. At least for walks, batters do historical drive the cart. Jfranco did some extensive research on this awhile back. In a Nut shell guys that walk, walk even against pitchers who don't walk people.

3. Offense is inflated in the SIM. Chicks dig the long ball.

4. Your pitching staff isn't nearly good enough for a 140 cap league. At that level your whips should all be under 1. Most under .95.

Thanks for this.  That's straight forward answers I can understand.
Items 1 through 3 I guess I'll have to live with or quit WIS. I don't like that it is inherently programmed that way. I don't care that "chicks dig the long ball"

How many chicks play here anyways. Pitching is a huge part of baseball.........seems odd to just penalize all the pitchers within the outcomes.
Just my 2 cents.

In general, offenses in the sim are more efficient than in real life, Also, when you compare walks by pitchers, compare BB/PA, not BB/9.
