tec can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he's been mocking you because we know it involves averages.   But, in our discussion, we're talking about Edgar Martinez and the litany of scrubs that hit behind him during his career.

Exactly.  It's a multi-season aggregate of all players, all situations, all ballparks.

I've been mocking BL in this entire thread.

No one denied they were averages. I didn't think I had to confirm what everyone already knows.

Griffey and Buhner made up a large chunk of the PA's immediately following Martinez, and Davis was above average. So no one was really a scrub. At least not regularly.

And, once again, are you arguing that his OBP was too high?

Do you really think Griffey hit behind Martinez?    You might want to check that.

Do I need to keep going?

Yeah, you might have to.   Even the longest of Mariners fans said he didn't.

You really should read what others post sometimes.

Well, you seem to be compartmentalizing my argument.

3.  He was a 3-4-5 hitter but, IMO, he walked a great deal.   Was he pitched around?  Unlikely with A-Rod and Griffey in the line-up.  Bad, IMO.

I certainly read it when you said this. Can we all agree that that was a dumb thing to say?

Is that an admission that Griffey rarely batted behind Martinez?

What???

What do you consider rare? I pulled 8 or 9 random box scores from the early 90's and Griffey hit behind Martinez in 7 of them. That's nothing conclusive but it certainly shows that Griffey did hit behind Martinez.

Also, who gives a ****? It changes nothing.

The fact that Martinez walked a lot is a good thing.
2/11/2014 7:19 PM
Evidently you give a ****.   Or do you just randomly pull box scores from the early 90s because it's fun?
2/11/2014 7:22 PM
Oh christ. **** me for allowing this to happen.

Mike says something incredibly dumb. On repeat for 45 pages. The argument shifts slightly. And I'm the idiot for pulling box scores.

Here you go, buddy.    So you can be more informed.

EM:   1682/3944/1083 PA  3/4/5 spots
KG:   8932/984/677 PA  3/4/5

Did he hit behind EM a few times?  Probably.   Significant amount?  Unlikely.
