Also, Dickinson's a 62 point favorite over McDaniel and Amherst is predicted to beat Middlebury by 60.

sorry guys I was really late this time, but it's done and I did something special for you. Hope it's to your liking.

I would really love your feedback for this if I can get it.

Sorry everyone for missing a couple days, please don't hate me.  There's no excuse really, but I'll go ahead and blame it on Wittenberg.  When in doubt, blame darnoc.

Let's get caught up with a quick recap of the days I missed.

Saturday:
#19 Johnson and Wales outlasted #25 Rivier 102-92 in overtime.  Rivier got a tip-in with 8 seconds left to force the extra session but the Spider Monkeys were too much to handle in overtime.
Trinity upset #6 Dallas 65-59, #10 Oglethorpe edged #9 Greensboro 76-72, and #21 Colorado got the home win over Occidental 78-73.

Sunday:
#15 Ozarks hosting #23 Emory probably would've been the game of the day and Ozarks got past the visitors 54-43.
#18 Fitchburg St. got a big defensive stop at the end to slip past East Connecticut St. 71-70, #20 Hendrix battled past Millsaps 73-67, Wooster got the home upset of #22 Allegheny 76-64 and #25 Rivier came back to win at Suffolk 59-51.

Monday:
Easy choice for the game of the day, new #1 Wittenberg took care of #4 Grove City at home 76-64 and moved to the top of the rankings.
#23 Emory pulled away from #20 Hendrix 71-60 and Earlham downed #22 Allegheny 67-59.

GotN
#8 Dickinson (17-2)(mfnmyers) at #16 Ursinus (17-2)(barjaz)
Game of the season in the Centennial conference as both teams are leading their division at 9-0 in conference play heading into their annual cross-divisional battle.  barjaz leads this long-time series 25-15 and the home team is favored by 1 tonight.

Also considered: #22 Allegheny at #1 Wittenberg, #24 Lynchburg at #11 Emory and Henry, #2 Piedmont at North Carolina Wesleyan, Trinity at #15 Ozarks, Sewanee at #20 Hendrix, and #23 Emory at Louisiana

Sim blowout watch: George Fox is a 54 point road dog at #12 Willamette while Elmira is getting 45 at #3 Vassar.
3/31/2014 10:43 PM
Piedmont is back on top of the rankings and we're down to just three undefeated teams left.  Six sad teams have yet to win a game.

Last Night
#8 Dickinson 93   #19 Ursinus 89
Dickinson was down by 3 at the half but they quickly erased that as the second half started and then took the lead for good.  The two teams took turn cutting and expanding the lead throughout the second half until Dickinson were able to make enough free throws in the final minute to survive a barrage of Ursinus 3ptrs.  Dickinson and mfnmyers stayed perfect in conference play and at #8 in the rankings with the victory while Ursinus and barjaz slipped a couple spots after their first Centennial loss.

Also considered: #2 Wittenberg recovered from 8 down at the half to pull away from Allegheny 62-51, #21 Lynchburg cruised past #17 Emory and Henry 74-52, #1 Piedmont won on the road at North Carolina Wesleyan 98-70, #12 Ozarks got past Trinity 65-56, Sewanee survived a last second 3pt attempt to trip up #23 Hendrix 77-74, and #22 Emory used a big first half to take down Louisiana 56-48.

Sim blowout watch: George Fox stayed just close enough to cover against #13 Willamette 59-104 while Elmira fell just on the other side of the spread and became another official blowout victim by losing to #4 Vassar 47-95.

GotN
#2 Wittenberg (20-0)(darnoc29099) at #3 Grove City (19-2)(platoisek)
These two North Coast divisional rivals just played two days ago and it's already time for the rematch.  Undefeated Wittenberg won that one at home by 12 so the Grove will be looking for revenge on their court.  darnoc has a 7-1 advantage in the all-time series and the odds-makers have this one as an even pick.

Also considered: S. Vermont at #5 Emerson, Louisiana at #6 Dallas, Palm Beach Atlantic at #11 Oglethorpe, Rhodes at #22 Emory, and Newbury at #24 Rivier

Sim blowout watch: Massachusetts Liberal Arts is back for more liberal spreads action and this time they are 74 point home dogs hosting #15 Fitchburg St.

ITaLRbHAGotN
Penn St. Altoona (15-5)(frankgrimes1) at Susquehanna (14-7)(zeuspole)
It's round two in the annual Commonwealth conference PSA/Susquehnna divisional matchup.  PSA won the first round two days ago in an epic 76-75 double overtime thriller, so Susquehanna will be looking to erase some painful memories.  The odds-makers are stumped so it's an even pick.
4/1/2014 2:26 PM
One of the three remaining undefeated teams fell last night but it didn't cause much change in the top half of the rankings.

Last Night
#2 Wittenberg 65   #3 Grove City 70
The Grove avenged their loss from two days ago and dealt Wittenberg their first loss on the season.  The visitors had a solid first half and went into the locker room with a 37-33 lead.  G-City quickly closed the gap after the break and the game was very close the entire way.  Wittenberg went ahead for the last time at 59-58 with about three minutes remaining but they didn't score again until there was just ten seconds on the clock.  That's not a good strategy and the home team took advantage outscoring them 12-6 over the final minutes.  No change in the rankings from the game but G-City is now just one game back of Wittenberg in the division standings.

Also considered: #4 Emerson recovered from a 12 point halftime deficit to force two overtime sessions where they finally locked down the 90-83 victory over S. Vermont, #6 Dallas won at home against Louisiana 72-64, #9 Oglethorpe got past Palm Beach Atlantic 70-52, #21 Emory defended the home court against Rhodes 68-60, and #25 Rivier hit a go-ahead shot with three seconds left to nip Newbury 61-59.

Sim blowout watch: Massachusetts Liberal Arts kept it respectable and easily covered vs. #17 Fitchburg St. 53-79.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Penn St. Altoona got the season sweep over Susquehanna with a convincing 58-45 road victory.

GotN
#18 Johnson and Wales (16-4)(spasticity) at #4 Emerson (20-1)(cowboytrout)
Emerson won the first game this season between these two Great Northeast foes but now they're tied atop the division standings with one loss apiece.  The winner tonight takes a one game lead and will look good for the division title.  spasticity leads the series 7-1 but the home squad is favored by 2.

Also considered: #15 Calvin at Kalamazoo, #20 Colorado at California Tech, Stillman at #21 Emory, and Rhodes at #23 Hendrix

Sim blowout watch: LeTourneau is getting 56 points at home as they host #7 Hardin-Simmons while Alfred is a 43 point home dog up against #5 Vassar.

ITaLRbHAGotN
#10 Greensboro (17-3)(tilldog28) at Christopher Newport (17-4)(mroylanc)
Big game in the USA South east division as these opponents are tied in first place with two losses.  Greensboro won the first game at home earlier in the season and now go on the road looking for the sweep and a division title.  C-Newp is a 2 point underdog and an upset win here would be a nice addition to their post-season resume.
4/2/2014 11:53 AM
We're entering the home stretch, just five nights left in the conference season.

Last Night
#22 Johnson and Wales 81   #3 Emerson 87
This was a very good game the whole way through with neither team able to gain the advantage until about seven minutes left in the game when Emerson made a little run to finally open up a double digit lead.  J-Dub responded and made several comeback attempts but they couldn't quite get enough stops to draw back even on the scoreboard.  Emerson climbed up a spot in the rankings with the win and opened up a one game lead in the division standings while the Spider Monkeys dropped down a few spots after their second conference loss.

Also considered: #15 Calvin got past Kalamazoo on the road 73-60, #18 Colorado did the same against California Tech 72-62, #20 Emory handled Stillman at home 77-60, and Rhodes got a last second tip-in to upset previously ranked Hendrix 63-62.

Sim blowout watch: We have another blowout victim as LeTourneau just missed the cover by falling to #7 Hardin-Simmons 57-117.  Alfred fared slightly better and covered vs #5 Vassar 59-94.

ITaLRbHAGotN: This one was tied at the half but #9 Greensboro pulled away in the second half to win at Christopher Newport 95-83.  Greensboro gets the season sweep along with a one game lead in the standings over C-Newp.

GotN
Whitworth (17-5)(tim_buggie) at #13 Willamette (19-2)(bullman17)
We move out west to the Northwest conference for a nice game between divisional rivals.  Willamette is undefeated in conference and earlier in the season gave Whitworth their only blemish.  The visitors will be looking to avoid the season sweep and pull even in the standings while Willamette could practically clinch the title by defending the home court.  bullman leads the series 24-11 and his team is favored by 4 at home.

Also considered: #3 Emerson at #23 Rivier, Wabash at #2 Wittenberg, Christopher Newport at #10 Oglethorpe, and Denison at #25 Allegheny

Sim blowout watch: One win Methodist is a big 60 point road dog as they travel to #9 Greensboro.

ITaLRbHAGotN
Webster (16-7)(mschulte24) at Aurora (15-6)(jbra12)
Earlier in the season Aurora dealt Webster their first conference loss in nine seasons.  Don't make the Gorlock angry, you won't like Gorlocks when they're angry.
4/3/2014 5:09 PM
Oh crap, Willamette is GotN
4/3/2014 6:26 PM
DDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMEEEDDDDD!!!!!!
4/3/2014 9:18 PM
See bullman, no need to get so nervous about appearing in the GotN writeup.  You need to think more positive, nothing to worry about.

Last Night
Whitworth 61   #10 Willamette 77
Well maybe there isn't absolutely nothing to worry about, visiting Whitworth held a narrow 42-41 lead at the half.  But then Willamette fought off the GotN jinx and completely shut down the Whitworth offense in the second half, holding them to just 19 points.  Willamette and bullman climbed into the top ten with the win and opened up a two game lead in the standings.

Also considered: #3 Emerson got past Rivier on the road 77-66, #2 Wittenberg handled Wabash 72-55, Christopher Newport scored the road upset over #14 Oglethorpe 74-67, and #24 Allegheny downed Denison 60-49.

Sim blowout watch: Two in a row!  Methodist were not even close to the spread as they were victimized by #9 Greensboro 54-127.  Ouch.

ITaLRbHAGotN: Webster 62 Aurora 53.  Angry Gorloks.

GotN
#11 Ozarks (18-4)(westcoast22) at #6 Dallas (20-3)(tarvolon)
Another good one in the University between divisional foes.  Ozarks got the big win at home earlier in the season and now they have a two game lead in the standings.  A win on the road would practically clinch first place while if Dallas can get revenge at home, they'll be only one game back and within striking distance.  westcoast has a 4-1 series advantage and the odds-makers are calling this one a pick.

Also considered: #25 Wooster at #4 Grove City, #19 Colorado at #12 Whittier, Palm Beach Atlantic at #1 Piedmont, #21 Emory at Millsaps, #22 Johnson and Wales at Suffolk, and Baldwin-Wallace at #23 John Carroll

Sim blowout watch: Haverford is getting a big 71 point hosting #7 Dickinson while Shenandoah is a 59 point home dog against #9 Greensboro.

ITaLRbHAGotN
Austin (19-4)(ricosuave21) at #8 Hardin-Simmons (22-0)(sublightd)
Well, the first game between these two made this section so we might as well feature the reverse meeting too.  That earlier home loss was Austin's only conference defeat this season so they're only one game behind H-Sim in the standings.  An upset here forces a tie for first place and a loss pretty much clinches it for Hardin-Simmons.  No pressure or anything.  The home team is favored by 4.
4/4/2014 4:50 PM
Sorry guys that I stopped doing the MVPotN- I've been feeling bad about it. I won't give any excuses, just an apology. I am working on some things though to hopefully make up for it that I think you'll all enjoy. Fingers crossed.
4/4/2014 10:40 PM
I'm rooting for the Badgers tonight, not because I'm a Wisconsin fan but because fried cheese curds are tasty.  You can't argue with that logic.

Last Night
#10 Ozarks 58   #7 Dallas 55
Ozarks had a 1 point lead twice early in the first half and then they trailed the rest of the way... until two minutes left in the game when they made a shot to go ahead 52-51.  Like the other 1 point leads they had it was quickly erased by the home team.  Then Ozarks got a bucket followed by a three pointer in the final minute to build a 2 point lead, and then they got clutch defensive stops on the Dallas end of the court to finish off the big road victory.  Ozarks and westcoast moved into the top ten with the win and clinched at least a tie for first place.

Also considered: #2 Grove City caught a bunch of breaks and totally lucked into a 77-51 home win over Wooster, #9 Whittier pulled away in the second half for the 80-67 win over #21 Colorado, #1 Piedmont cruised past Palm Beach Atlantic 90-65, Millsaps upset #22 Emory at home 63-51, #20 Johnson and Wales got past Suffolk 78-61, and #23 John Carroll downed Baldwin-Wallace 64-58.

Sim blowout watch: We're getting a flurry of blowout victims here late in the season with another one last night.  Haverford got within 5 points of the spread but couldn't cover against #8 Dickinson 51-127.  Elsewhere, Shenandoah did a bit better and covered vs #12 Greensboro 70-110.

ITaLRbHAGotN: #6 Hardin-Simmons was tied at 50 after the first half but locked down the defense in the second half, securing the season sweep of Austin with a 98-78 home victory.

GotN
North Carolina Wesleyan (19-7)(nastynick60) at #12 Greensboro (20-3)(tilldog28)
We've got a nice cross-divisional game down in the USA South here with Greensboro needing a win to stay one game ahead for first place in their division.  NC-Wes is doesn't have a chance for a first round bye in the conference tourney but a win here would be a nice boost to the post-season resume.  tilldog holds a 11-6 lead in the series and his team is favored by 4 at home.

Also considered: #3 Emerson at Newbury, Hendrix at #10 Ozarks, and S. Vermont at #20 Johnson and Wales

Sim blowout watch: Two win McMurry is a solid 81 point home dog up against #6 Hardin-Simmons while Roanoke is getting 66 as they host #13 Emory and Henry.
4/5/2014 10:21 PM
Two games left in the regular season, if anyone is interested in giving Wooster some of their wins let me know.

Last Night
North Carolina Wesleyan 92   #11 Greensboro 102
It was a high scoring affair that Greensboro led from wire to wire.  NC-Wes was able to get within 1 a couple times around the eight minute mark of the second half but the home team was able to respond and expand the lead again.  Greensboro's offense was just too much to handle in the end and they were able to pull away a bit at the end for the double digit home win.  Greensboro and tilldog moved up a spot in the rankings with the win and stayed one game ahead of Christopher Newport in the divisional standings.

Also considered: #2 Emerson took care of Newbury 69-44, #8 Ozarks played tough defense in the first half and went on to beat Hendrix 76-59, and #18 Johnson and Wales held on for a 71-67 home win over S. Vermont.

Sim blowout watch: McMurry couldn't prevent the century mark but they still covered against #7 Hardin-Simmons 46-100 while Roanoke also got the cover against #14 Emory and Henry 54-91.

GotN
#10 Whittier (22-2)(windixies) at Occidental (19-5)(bananafangs)
Huge game in the So-Cal conference as Whittier is tied with one loss atop the south division as they make the trip to the other divisional leader.  If Whittier can win out they'll take the #1 seed via tie-breaker so they need a road win.  Occidental already clinched their division title but an upset win at home would give a nice bump to their post-season outlook.  windixies leads the series 3-1 and his team is favored by 6 on the road.

Also considered: #4 Wittenberg at Kenyon, #6 Dallas at Millsaps, Texas Lutheran at #7 Hardin-Simmons, Sewanee at #8 Ozarks, Eureka at #15 Calvin, W. New England at #18 Johnson and Wales, #22 Emory at Trinity, and #23 Allegheny at Wabash

Sim blowout watch: Roanoke did so well last night, they're back again getting 61 points as they host #20 Lynchburg.
4/6/2014 10:37 AM
Stat of much shame from last night....my starters managed just 10 points against Johnson & Wales. The bench scored 39...but the starters managed...10. Coincidentally, that's the number of bottles of tequila the coaching staff went through after the game.

All of which might explain why a team I thougth would be a solid NT squad is now 13-12 this season and fighting for its life just to reach the PIT.
4/7/2014 11:01 AM
Going into the final night of the regular season, we still have two undefeated teams and there are six un-victoried teams.  That's not a real word, but it should be.

Last Night
#10 Whittier 83   Occidental 76
Despite shooting only 40% from the floor including 25% from 3, Whittier was still able to grab a 2 point lead at the half.  Home team Occidental made a run midway through the second half and pushed a lead up to 8, but Whittier wouldn't go away.  They closed the gap after a few minutes and then went on a 10-0 run to close out the final three minutes of the game for the key road win.  Whittier and windixies stayed tied for first place thanks to the win and held steady at the edge of the top ten rankings.

Also considered: #3 Wittenberg got past Kenyon on the road 71-57, Millsaps got two free throws with one second remaining to secure an exciting home upset over #9 Dallas 66-64, #6 Hardin-Simmons opened up a huge halftime lead over Texas Lutheran and held on for a 112-94 victory, #7 Ozarks took care of Sewanee at home 81-71, #15 Calvin cruised past Eureka 90-61, #17 Johnson and Wales shamed W. New England's starters 81-49, Trinity pulled away from Emory 57-44, and #22 Allegheny downed Wabash 65-51.

Sim blowout watch: Roanoke made it two covers in a row as they fell to #20 Lynchburg 50-103.

GotN
#1 Piedmont (25-0)(bunkerbuster) at #13 Oglethorpe (23-2)(getiguy)
Undefeated and top-ranked Piedmont will attempt to finish off a perfect regular season in the USA South as they visit divisional rival Oglethorpe.  Oglethorpe stayed within 7 in the first game between these two so they have to feel pretty good about the rematch at home.  bunker leads the series 14-4 and his team is favored by 3 on the road.

Also considered: #24 Wooster at #3 Wittenberg, Howard Payne at #6 Hardin-Simmons, #7 Ozarks at Louisiana, #9 Dallas at Stillman, Chapman at #12 Willamette, #17 Johnson and Wales at Emmanuel, and #22 Allegheny at Earlham

Sim blowout watch: Ironically named Hope is getting 66 points as they visit #15 Calvin.
4/7/2014 1:45 PM
Hey pseudo, if you are looking for an ITaLRbHAGotN I heard there was a game in Conway, AR between Hendrix and Emory. Both teams are locks in the NT, so the game is just for seeding, but Vegas has it as even. (Remember last season when I suggested a game for you and it turned out to be a 144-134 4OT game.)
