The Big East currently has 10 teams. If they add St. Louis, who do you think would be picked before Dayton?

I'd guess when/if the BigEast expands it would be done with an equal amount of east coast vs. midwestern teams.
If that theory is correct St Louis and Dayton would be considered for the same spot if they expand to 12.  Both could be considered in an eventual expansion to 14.

As for who that next east coast team you'd have to see what fits the current profile (private school with emphasis in hoops).  Which might rule out a public institution like VCU.
Then the new school would have to be approved by current members.  Is Georgetown fine with adding a Richmond?   How about Villanova if another Philly area school is considered.   For that matter is Xavier fine with Dayton.

It really comes down to money.  With the league bringing in $50 million a year from Fox would adding 4 teams increase that to $70 per? I don't see any of these teams bringing that in unless Fox just is willing to pay for the added inventory of potential games.

It also sounds like Cuonzo Martin from Tennessee is a top candidate for the Marquette spot.
Although I think some of the Marquette fan base still hopes for the administration to make one last swing at Tony Bennett.

I have been hearing UMass being mentioned, but that is a public university and they have football. But they are losing money big time on football. Richmond is a name I hear a lot. If Boston U was willing to invest as much into basketball as they do hockey, that would be a great fit. But their current gym is a cracker box.

I think the Big East will be content to sit back for the next couple of years and assess the landscape before making a moves.

After 28 seasons at the helm, Coppin State and its longtime head coach, Ron 'Fang' Mitchell,  have parted ways. Coppin State finished below .500 in nine of the past 10 seasons, going 20-44 in the past two seasons. The Eagles were 12-20 in 2013-14. Mitchell did have plenty of success in the 1990s, though, when he won a share of nine out of 10 MEAC regular-season titles. He also had an 11-season stretch of winning seasons from 1988-99, including a legendary upset of No. 2 seed South Carolina in the 1997 NCAA Tournament.

Florida Atlantic-   They are focusing on Ohio State asssitant Dave Dickerson. He was formerly the head coach at Tulane

Appalachian State-  They are after Matt McMahon, Murray State assistant. He played at Appalachian St. and was the assistant there for 10 years.  Murray State is in the semi-finals  of the  CIT so McMahon may not make a decision until they're eliminated

Stay at Harvard where getting to the Dance is regarded as major accomplishment - and where winning a tournament game is regarded as amazing

Stay until some great job comes along.......how much longer K at Duke?  Who the natural successor?  Wojo?  Outside the organization?
