Some of the foreign names make no sense. There are a ton of Japanese players with Chinese last names, and as mentioned, English first names. And I have a catcher from France whose name is Trevor Higginson.

I had a Russian fella names Herm Davenport.  Immigrant parents from England I guess.

My favorite was Ramon Yamamoto. He was from Iowa.

Kristi Yamaguchi was from CA.   It happens.

True, but California actually has racial diversity. I grew up in a state bordering Iowa, and I can vouch that Iowa is about 104% white.

Point being, everyone born in the US isn't named Joe Smith.     Do I really have to find a James Tanaka born in STL to prove it?

James Tanaka born in St Louis makes sense. The same name, but from Japan makes absolutely no sense.

I don't actually disagree. I just felt like making fun of Iowa.

I'm sure there is at least one Japanese guy in Iowa with a name similar to James Tanaka. He's probably in Cedar Rapids right now slaughtering a hog, or whatever it is Iowans do with their free time.
