Please forgive my posting this note here, but I just posted a crazy idea for a new progressive league to try and put some of the fun back in WIS: 

Completely random assignment of one of the 50 states or one of the foreign countries that MLB players have come from to each team each round of each draft. 

Teams can draft any player born in that state or country from any time period, drafting their rookie season. Players then progress one season at a time as in any progressive. We use baseball-reference.com/bio/ to find out which players were born where - that page allows you to order players by any major stat to help your research. 

Once drafted the player is no longer available to other teams and once retied they will never return. 

Teams may find themselves drafting from the same state or country regularly due to the vagaries of randomness, or may never draft from the same country or state twice. No knowing. 

Draft value will decline gradually over time as the best players from each region historically are drafted, so there is decreasing incentive to worry about draft order.
