I'll add this. I think most Yankee fans hope ARod sucks out loud in ST. Hope he gets booed mercilessly. And hopes he says "**** it. I don't need this. I'm going to see if the Yanks will buy out my contract as a discount. And, if they do, I'm going fishing." But, if he doesn't, we'll say "******* ARod" when he makes an out with runners on. But, when he hits the game winning homer, we'll yell "YEAH!!! ******* AROD!!!!! YOU DA MAN!!!!!" because that's what fans do.
Sucks to root for a team where you're rooting against your players.
Not really. It's a 162 game season and one player isn't going to win/lose all of them. Don't tell me you've never thought "****, I hope this ****** strikes out with the bases loaded again. Then, maybe, management will realize he sucks and send him down!!!"
No, I don't think I have.
Who else have you rooted against, aside from A-Rod?
Mussina, Big Unit and Sheffield off the top of my head.
It was tougher with the pitchers because the Yanks needed a comfortable lead in the game as well as the standings but that's three who were on my **** list.
Sheffield because he said he intentionally threw balls in the stands to get out of Milwaukee. Can't root for a ****** like that.
Johnson because he was such a *****. "Don't talk to me. Don't you talk to me." Plus, while other Yanks were getting in some more work on the back fields in ST, he was tossing wiffle balls to his young children. Don't know why but that has stuck with me. Seemed selfish. It's a wiffle ball, toss it in the clubhouse while the other guys are running/stretching and what-not. Or do it after the game is over. Act like you're at work while everyone else IS working.
Mussina only because, every time I watched him pitch, it seemed like he was cruising along then, when I'd go grab a beer or take a ****, he'd give up 6 runs and turn a nice lead into a deficit. I didn't so much root against him as refuse to watch him pitch.
I'm sure, if I looked at some rosters, there would be more.
