I like how, in a country that was built on freedom of speech and expression, he says "they had it coming" for actually exercising it.
Maybe Sony shouldn't have put themselves in a high-risk situation by filming a movie where we kill a dictator who we all know is crazy. Sounds like they should get the blame, right?

(tongue is in cheek)

They aren't faultless.    I don't know that I'd call it "high risk" but it wasn't without risk.

I do wonder if they'd have even CONSIDERED making a similar movie where Obama is to be assassinated.    I'm assuming not.

"They" decide to pull their own movie.

"They" did.  After "their" customers (the theaters) said "Yeah, no thanks.  Don't want or need the risk".

Sure.

This isn't a freedom of speech issue.

Sure it is.  NK didn't like the premise of a movie, and threatened terrorist action against those theaters who showed it and those people who went to see it.

What would you call that?

12/18/2014 2:46 PM
Sony is still free to show the movie.

...of course, since we are so much in debt to the handler, thanks to the reckless borrowing that Obama has done in the past 6 years, we are on a leash to China too.
You realize that the debt isn't equity, right. China doesn't own us. In reality, the more debt of ours they own, the more control we have. Their interests become tied to ours.
But if we don't play ball with them, Obama can't get his money from them.

Um, no. We already have their money. If they don't play ball, they don't get their money back.

The Obama administration disagrees with you:

The Obama administration also weighed in on Wednesday night -- a National Security Council spokeswoman affirmed that the government is investigating the cyberattack against Sony and said "we take very seriously any attempt to threaten or limit artists' freedom of speech or of expression."

12/18/2014 2:54 PM
...and Sony would be liable if something happened to the 3 theaters that would actually show it.

No help coming from the US Govt to help out the American arm of this company.

So we have a balanced budget then.  Thanks for letting me know.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech"

Until a law is passed preventing Sony from releasing the movie, this isn't a free speech issue. Sony still has the freedom to show the movie.

Maybe you should call the Obama administration and tell them they're wrong for calling this a freedom of speech or expression issue.

Let us know what they say.
