A-ROD'S INTANGIBLES!

DEREK WHO?
5/2/2015 5:00 AM
Yankees dropped the final game against the Rays on Wednesday night by a 3-2 score in 13 innings, but then bounce back with a 3-2 win over the Red Sox last night at Fenway, holding onto their 1 game lead in the East.

CC finally pitched a decent game for the Yanks, going 6 innings and allowing only two runs.  Beltran and Ellsbury led the offense with two hits each.  The winning run came on a HR in the 8th inning when Yankee starting DH Garrett Jones was lifted for a pinch hitter.

Game 2 of the series this afternoon as Nathan Eovaldi (1-0, 4.15) gets the start.

The Yankees continue their hot plat by winning the second game of the series against the floundering Red Sox with a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon.  Brett Gardner and Chris Young supply most of the offense as Gardner contributes a single and a double to drive in three runs, and Young adds a double and a solo home run.

Eovaldi picks up his second win of the year with 6.2 IP of 2 run ball, and the bullpen closes it out.  Betances picks up his first save of the season, whiffing all four batters he faced.

Adam Warren (1-1, 4.35) hopes to complete the sweep tonight against Red Sox starter Joe Kelly (1-0, 4.94).

Up next is a three game trip to Toronto.

Yankees complete the sweep at Fenway with an 8-5 victory on Sunday night.

The top of the order (Ellsbury and Gardner) do most of the damage, collecting 6 hits, scoring four runs and driving in three (a Gardner 3-run homer).  Teixiera also hits his 9th of the season.

Adam Warren (2-1, 4.78) gets the win in a solid start until he lost his stuff after a quick two outs in the sixth.  Andrew Miller picks up his 10th save of the season.

Chase Whitey (1-0, 1.80) on the mound tonight in Toronto in his second start of the season.

Arond deserves praise for his .241/.362/.519 line. Of the handful of hot starts, this is the one that actually looks sustainable. Gardner isn't going to continue to reach base 40% of the time and Ellsbury won't continue to reach 43% of the time. But Arod...Arod isn't doing anything that screams unsustainable.

Uh . . . a .241 AVG is hardly praiseworthy.
5/4/2015 2:58 PM
Should we also praise Teixiera's "sustainable".202 AVG as well?

He's reaching base over 36% of the time. That's much more important than the 241 average.

What's worse is that you know that but you're playing dumb.

It's May 4.

Way to jump to conclusions.

Report back in October.

Which is exactly what I'd say to anyone excited about the Yankees current position in the standings.

Yeah, thanks for trolling.

You are dismissed.

I'm not trolling. I'm genuinely excited about the season Arod is having. I'm rooting for the guy. I just don't think the Yankees have enough pitching to finish in third, let alone win the division.

Well, good for you and your excitement about ARod.

Maybe you can confine it to the "ARod's 2015 Performance" thread?
