Had trimmed down to 1 team for a while and decided to jump in and get a second one.  Joined Gleeman 2.  Huge mistake.  Should have stuck with the top 25 in the world rankings.  Questionable trades, buying players, this one sent me packing.

That's why I am really torn on the guy.

On the one hand he single-handedly brings in a pretty large amount of new customers, probably more than any other single owner.

On the other hand, he probably makes their first experience a pretty horrible one.

Be interesting to know how many owners liked the game enough to venture outside of gleeman's dark world and have become owners in other worlds VS how many just bailed after realizing they'd been trade raped by their "leader"...

I made some bad trades in that world when I first started but they were due to ignorance of the game and not due to being in one of the two worlds

The sad part is, they almost throw a fit when a rookie tries to trade.  There was a trade earlier in the season by a newbie that was MUCH more fair than the one I posted and it lit up the world chat for a day and almost a full page.

@mchales-army  I agree.  There is no way in hell I would have stuck around when I first started if the world I joined ran like that.  Maybe WIS should send out a poll to all first time players a couple of times during the season and get their feedback.  Encourage them to ask questions and see if their experience is normal or if they landed in a dysfunctional situation.  Maybe put them at the top of a list to fill teams that had to be relinquished for reasons other than abandonment.  Something that would make the newbies experience as pleasant as possible.

I've said several times that the Gleeman worlds really aren't hurting anyone, they seem self-contained, and I'm sure he brings in plenty of users.    So, really, he's bringing in "his people" to his worlds and, with any luck, they branch out.    He may run a few of them off but he brought them in.    Current users should know enough to check what's going on in any world before joining.   So the only real possible downside is a new owner that he didn't bring to HBD joining his world.   He might run that guy off with the goings on in those worlds.   Overall, I think Gleeman is a win for WifS and HBD.

I just wouldn't recommend those worlds to anyone.

Actually, the 3 other teams in my division were first timers and all 3 teams were abandoned in the same week, before the regular season even started. With my departure, the whole division will have lost it's entire ownership before 7 regular season games are played.

I don't disagree at all, really -- but I do wonder how it can be fun for Gleeman. But hey, it's his heavily discounted $25 every three months -- not mine.

I guess this will answer tbott and travis.

I'm not sure Gleeman cares if teams are abandoned in the first week.   His world rolled and he's on his way to another 110 win season.    I expect the process will repeat itself next season.    And he's good with it.   

Some people play Madden on rookie and take great joy in winning every game 98-0.    It's not for me but I'm not judging how people enjoy their games.
