HOT DOG LEAGUE

This league will start in 1962. 16 teams with 2 four team divisions in each league.
It will be like most progressives with one exception. Each team will be allowed to twist 2 hitters and 2 pitchers to any season of their career.

This will change drafting strategy as a player with one outstanding season with many seasons may be just as valuable as a player with a steady career.

Your 2 twisted hitters and pitchers will be your designated HOT DOG players.

A player can be designated a HOT DOG player even if he does not have a WIS season. An example would be Carlton Fisk. He played in majors in 1969 but doesn't have enough AB to make WIS database. Yet you can still draft him and use any season of his career for the '69 season.

An available players list for each draft will include players who played at least one game in majors for that season. 

For the first season we will draft 29 players and a franchise. Your 2 lowest salary pitchers and 2 lowest salary pos players will be your real life AAA. Each season your 2 lowest salary pitchers and hitters will be your real life AAA.

It will be a snake style draft with order determined by random.org.
I will have a WIS owner not in the league get the draft order from random.

No salary cap

No WW, fake AAA 

Unlimited keepers

We will make Charlie Finley grin in his grave by allowing the DH for AL teams earlier then MLB did. We will also be using a yellow ball.

Trades are allowed including trades of draft picks.

Once you have a franchise you are required to move to whatever city/ballpark happened in real life.

Owners will also be able to move to new city/ballpark as long as it is in use for the season we are playing. If you move from an existing city/ballpark to a new one it will cost you a 4th round draft pick. This is to discourage constant changing.

40 games must be played live to play in post season.

A team that does not make live requirement will be penalized in the next draft.

30-39 live games drop one spot in round 1.
20-29 live games drop two spots in round 1.
10-19 live games drop three spots in round 1.
0-9 live games pretty much booted from league to join Charlie Finley.

A lot of rules? Maybe but they are on the table before we start.

I think this should be a fun and a little different progressive and hopefully we can get 15 more to join in.

No you will have keepers like all progressives. You just designate 2 hitters and 2 pitchers from your keepers and new players to be HOT DOG players

If I understand it, you select your hot dogs fresh each season. If I selected Yastrzemski in 1962, I might twist him to '67 as a hot dog. Next season I might just use his 1963 season and save the hot dog twist for someone who would benefit more.

That is correct. You can switch your HOT DOG players every season. You won't have to name them until after the draft.

do you have to desinate new hot doggers each season? or can you keep using same player and same years as long as they have a season in database for year drfating in?

You can use the same season as many times as you like. Example if I drafted Norm Cash I would be able to use his monster 1961 season every year if I wanted
