I managed to get my rebuild done in two seasons and didn't even have to lose 100 once.

Yes, but were you one of the youngest teams after the rebuild?  Did your rookie and Low A teams make the playoffs?

It isn't REALLY a rebuild unless you are only spending less than 50M on payroll and go on to win 120 for the next 10 seasons.

Oh, my bad.   I thought dropping 97 and 92 in consecutive seasons two seasons removed from winning a WS then getting back in the playoffs would be considered a rebuild.

FWIW, during my down time, I only acquired 3 future BL players.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Domingo Manuel was a 24m IFA.   Gave me 162 innings this year.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Dorssys Prieto was a #3 pick.  He'll be called up next season but I'm not sure where he'll play.  I was hoping 2B or CF and that doesn't look like it's happening.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Kirt Keller was a #7 pick.  If my 1B declines his option, he's coming up next year also.  Otherwise, he's in AAA for the season.   Probably.

Yeah, a good world doesn't put up with this:

28 sjurat ML 59-103 .364 4th No No
29 sjurat ML 53-109 .327 3rd No No
30 sjurat ML 48-114 .296 4th No No
31 sjurat ML 57-105 .352 4th No No

I have no interest in perpetual 100+ game losers being in my world.
There wasn't 1 solid MLer in the system when I took over - what would have been better? Be saddled with a $120-125m payroll with never a chance to reemerge?

It not like I'm stocking other teams with great guys - or running a ghost team for my real team.

This team didn't have a single solid BL player either.

that is weird

This is actually a better thread on how to succeed without tanking it up for a full year.   http://www.whatifsports.com/forums/Posts.aspx?topicID=150310&page=1

The thing is, if you look at the IFAs sjurat's been signing, he's not even tanking well.  He seems to be using a quantity instead of quality approach, and after four years, you'd be hard pressed to find a single player he's signed that would be even a backup on a contending team, much less a cornerstone of a rebuild.

Yeah, he doesn't really have a strong grasp of the game.

He also posted this in defense of him "getting his tank on":

Things take time - and if you don't want the same teams winning every season - owners will need to take chances (lose more games) to position for greater upside in the future.

That pretty much told me the guy didn't know what he was doing at all.
