This has happened in the past. A couple of years ago I qualified for round 2, but declined due to lack of interest in the themes. The same would have been true for me this year, though I am nowhere near qualifying this time around. The 25th overall owner will get the first open spot, and so on down the line until round 2 is filled.

If it gets down to the 84th best record, I'll jump in...

My teams were 152-126, a .547 percentage. Overall, we won at a .581 clip, which translates to about 9-10 wins fewer than expected. Across 6 teams, I can't complain about that.

Actually, you know that the 1 run win% is not very correlated to overall run win%.

Based on historicaldata, you won about eight 1 run games more than expected.

The historical data shows for every 25 points of 2+ run win% (over/under .500) is worth about 5 points of 1 run win% (over/ under .500).

OK - fill in the blanks...

In 2019, I finished 2nd in regular season wins in round 1, but my 5 playoff teams only accumulated 18 point points. Dropped to 6th at end of round 1.

In 2020, I finished 1st in regular seasons wins in round 1, but my 5 playoffs teams only accumulated 8 playoff points. Dropped to 8th at end of round 1. (My 115-win juggernaut lost in round 1 to a 79-83 team, a team which I went 12-0 during the regular season. That was fun).

So, under the current posted rules, this game should not be happening.

If both teams will make it into the playoffs, one as the division winner and the other as the wildcard, the divisional winner is determined by best head-to-head record. If they are the same, the next tiebreaker is divisional record. If they are still the same, a one-game tiebreaker is scheduled to determine who will be the divisional winner and who will be the wildcard.

There is no tie for head to head or divisional record. The divisional winner has been settled under the rules. No need for a game 163.

I contacted support and they agreed, the game should not be happening, but they can't stop it. Their advice is below.

Depending on the outcome, maybe the commissioner of this league and WISC commissioner can reach out and we can reset seeding, and reset player fatigue from this game. I believe regardless you will be playing the same team again in first round, just with seeding and homefield impacted so should be able to make required updates once ruling is made/agreed upon.

I'll leave it to the commish to figure out.

FYI - The two teams will NOT be playing each other in the playoffs. Teams in the same division NEVER play each other in the first round of the playoffs.

Please contact the league's commissioner directly and have them send a ticket to support to re-set the fatigue. This game should not count in the standings, for purposes of tournament points.

I estimate it will take one more session before barracuda3 passes me up.  It's amazing how quickly a 14-game lead can disappear, when you string together a bunch of 1-5 sessions.

I knew I shouldn't have started building round 2 rosters yet. Maybe if I delete those rosters, the Karma Gods will be forgiving.

FYI - I actually did delete all my round 2 roster builds shortly after posting this (I did save them in a spreadsheet). My teams immediately started to play better. Don't tell me Karma isn't real.
