My Billy Williams can only dream about hitting .238/.313/.306. I sat his .167-avg .190-slug azz on the bench.

The Billy Williams report so far this season:

1972 ... .380/.426/.593
1970 ... .325/.377/.542
1964 ... .308/.351/.497
1971 ... .240/.312/.307
1967 ... .182/.261/.333
1963 ... .167/.314/.190

So there appears to be something of a dropoff from those top 3.

My teams went 8-8 in this morning's session. What's really odd about this session is that 7 of my 8 best teams lost while 7 of my 8 worst teams all won. And it wasn't based on strength of opponent. My losing teams had an average record of 26-16 going into the game, and the opponent's average record was 18-24. (Somehow, one of my teams lost to a 7-35 team)

Dodgers 29-13 loss to 15-27
Yankees 25-17 loss to 20-22
Athletics 28-14 loss to 17-25
Giants 24-18 loss to 24-18
Cardinals 28-14 loses to 22-20
Browns 26-16 loses to 7-35 <-- WTF?
Tigers 24-18 loses to 26-16
Senators 20-22 loses to 17-25
(Average: 26-16 team loses to 18-24 team)

Cubs 16-26 beats 19-23
White Sox 21-21 beats 23-19
Indians 24-17 beats 21-21
Phillies 20-22 beats 17-25
Red Sox 21-21 beats 19-23
Pirates 19-23 beats 20-22
Reds 20-22 beats 17-25
Braves 22-20 beats 22-20
(Average: 20-22 beats 20-22)

I pulled off an epic schwarzian bullpen collapse to give your Indians one of those victories. Up 7-3 in the 9th with two out and I proceed to give up 5 runs for the loss.
2/23/2024 10:31 AM
Yep, brutal beat RTG. Had those Indians lost the game, then my Top Eight teams would have all lost, with six of those eight losing to teams with significantly worse records.

Just got in at 2:00 this morning from my 13-day vacation out West and went straight to bed. I think I took 3 looks at my Team Center page while I was gone but that was it. I noticed how well they seemed to be doing in my absence (that is, well "for me" - not your "typical" well). Turned on the computer today after the PM Games were played and my 15 teams went a collective 2-13. I'm back everyone - treat my teams like the rented mules they are!

2/25/2024 4:45 PM
Ugh. Back to back 6-10 sessions. My 1-run game record hit a peak of "only" 6 games below .500 just a few days ago. Now it's back to 17 games below .500.
2/26/2024 1:38 PM
Thru 62 games, 12 of my 16 teams would qualify for round 2. So this next table really doesn't matter in the long run, since I will only get a maximum of 8 teams to advance, but it's annoying anyway. 15 of my 16 teams have a worse actual winning% than expected winning%. I would expect half would have a better Actual Win% than Expected Win% and half would be the opposite. But, no - 15 of 16. Really? Given average luck, my teams should average 2.3 more wins per team.

Here is another chart I like to analyze. It shows where my teams rank within each league in runs scored and runs allowed. As you can see, I tend to focus on pitching. I really didn't expect to have the #1 ranked pitching team for 8 different teams.

9-8
3-2
4-3
3-2
1-0
5-4

WTF?

In the "You can't make this up category"...

If my teams went 25-0 in their next twenty-five 1-run games, I would improve to *average* luck. Current 1-run game record: 131-156.
3/1/2024 4:06 PM
Since posting this, we've gone 5-10 in 1-run games and are now 136-166. Maybe regression will never kick in.
3/2/2024 6:09 PM
Wake up to a 4-12 session, including 1-5 in 1-run games. Good morning to me.

3/8/2024 8:28 AM
Still 29 games below .500 in 1-run games (198-227) and 14 of my 16 teams have a worse Actual Win% than Expected Win%.

Recent performances

At this brutal pace, I may not even get 8 teams to round 2.
