6-4, RPI 62.  Season to date: 2 good wins, 1 really bad W (375 RPI SUNY Potsdam).  Future: likely PIT.  Magic conference win #: 9.  Improvements: After losing out on Webster's brother from Montana, I was left without a G recruit and with a Walk On.  The FR are really not bad, just not my biggest needs.  Smith is the star, despite a modest WE.  He's got a great base and is high on ATH, SPD, REB, and LP.  If I can get his WE up, he'll be my best big in 15+ seasons.  Fabiano isn't pretty enough to make the cover of romance novels, but he's got a nice base and should get to 75 REB and 75 LP.  Halloran is a very nice RS guy-- high WE, high in ATH, REB, DEF, BLK, and P.  The REB, particularly is nice.  He's low in the scoring skills which is where you sometimes get the 50-60 point improvement.  This limits his ceiling.  Worth noting Gil and Salter's SPD/PE improvements.  For two returning G's next year, they'll be able to shoot.

7-3, RPI 68.  Season to date: two close losses, several "bad" wins (5 200+ RPIs).  Underperformed RPI.  Future: should make the NT.  Magic Conference win number: 9.  Newcomers: Marcellus is a true SG as SR; no upside.  Simon Says he's a JR with some upside (ATH, SPD, DEF, PE).  He's a nice piece the next two years.  The three FR are inside guys.  McClay, Bill McClay may have learned to shoot at one of those camps where you use paintballs, but he's got a nice profile (though low REB) once his WE catches up his improvements.  Wei has the kind of cool ATH/DEF profile aejones has had success with.  His WE has a Way to go, so his total improvement is hard to peg.  Not too much to Report to on Dowd-- he's high in ATH, SPD, LP and looks static with a nice base otherwise.  He also agrees Rose bet on his own team.  Worth noting Henson's improvements across the board and the two bigs getting 20+ in LP.

9-1 RPI 21.  Season to date: 8 of 9 W's vs. sub 202 RPI teams.  The future: NT team.  Conference wins magic number: 8.  Newcomers: Landed two G's; Gray got a nice starting ratings and is high in SPD and PE; his WE is low enough that it's hard to see in Black and White how he's going to end up.  Hunt has lower G skills to start, but is high in all those.  If he puts the time in the Office, Delbert will end up the better senior.  Worth noting Williams ATH/SPD/PE improvements as well as Pineiro's and McCellan's across the board improvements.

9-1, RPI 28.  Season to date: Odd RPI given his schedule (only 2 opponents over 5-5), only 1 300+ RPI victory.  Outlook: borderline PIT.  Conference wins magic number: 9.  Newcomers: Franklin's got a decent base of skills, but his low WE are the Key to his lack of High Voltage potential.  His BH/P have some upside; he could end up a serviceable PG.  Conner's also got a decent base, but one would hope to see him project to at least 007 improvement in one category to get excited.  Hinson's base is a little worse, but his upside is better-- If the ATH (med?) gets to 50, the REB will get to 85.  If the high LP is "sky's the limit," he's the star of this class.  Worth noting the G skill improvements even as a JR by Walter Brown and the productivity of Eric Turner's RS season.  My Thesis is that the expansive Frontiers of his potential have shaped his character.

20-4, RPI 4.  Season to date: 5-4 vs top 30 in RPI.  No games vs. any RPI over 240.  Outlook: High NT seed.  Improvements: Glaser's improvement is more than Half Full, the ATH development particularly makes him a cut above most perimeter threats.  The newcomers (Tune and Welsh) both have upside.  I can name that Tune in 4 high potentials (ATH, REB, DEF, and P).  He should score without PE, an interesting piece with that ATH and REB.  Welsh has nice upside on the big categories plus speed.  He's a very, very good and will get better.

17-7, RPI 12.  Season to date: 2-4 vs. top 15 in RPI.  2 wins over 300+ RPI teams in noncon.  Outlook, mid-high NT seed.  Improvements: Stevens' +73 stands out with improvements still coming in all the G cats +  defense; he's a LeBouf guard.  Barnes has established his ceiling.  His ratings in LP and ATH/SPD/DEF are going to be nice Silos, but not shared with his REB.  Kessler is the one true FR.  He's got nice potential in ATH, SPD, REB, DEF, and LP.  His REB won't get much over 80, but he'll play  the only flaw you could point out is the BLK, if you wanted to get picky you could point out he's not exactly bringing Darkness at Noon on the defensive end.

17-9, RPI 65.  Season to date: 2-4 vs. top 25 in RPI (lost last 4); 1 really bad noncon win (381 RPI Adrian) hurt RPI.  Outlook: mid-NT seed.  Improvements: Love Holiman's RS season-- the ATH/SPD upside are what Set him Apart; with his WE, the improvements will come early and make him really useful by mid next year.  In general it will be interesting how Rogue handles his 4 SF's next year.  Griffin's the younger big with an interesting profile; he looks headed for 45ish ATH, 55 SPD and good big stats; the profile is similar to the won Wojtanowski shot 55% with decent utilization for CUA a few years ago.  The Little Professor (true FR SG Johnny Clayton) is the prototypical recent vintage Shooting G though he's got a nice starting REB number and some ATH upside.  King is a good version of the typical PG: high on ATH/SPD/DEF/PE/P.  I look for 4 of those 5, getting all 5 doesn't make him future Royalty, but will at least earn him time on the Court.  Long is Long in ATH and DEF with upside in SPD, DEF, and LP.  I don't know if he ever earns time on the court with the other SF's on the roster.

10-16, RPI 129.  Season to date: Last game vs The Hill (RPI 98) was The Thumper's first vs. a top 100 team.  The nonconference slate had a 6 victories vs. over 275 RPI teams.  Outlook: Rebuild season for The Thumpers.  Improvements: King's SPD improvement makes him an ATH who plays despite low G skills.  Rector's double digit improvements in REB and LP with enough in ATH that he could reach 40 is important.  The true FR are interesting.  Millberg looks like a better version of King (more ATH, more SPD, more DEF, more -- though low to start -- skills); Carolina has decent ATH starting with no upside, but mid-base and big upside, particularly in LP.  Don't know how North of 50 Carolina will get in REB, but that matters.  Slaughter looks like he's high upside in everything by BH (which started at a decent 39)-- he could get to a 750 overall.  Maybe he won't be good enough to rename the Court (The Slaughterhouse?), but probably good enough that the starting lineup will be called the Slaughterhouse Five.

10-16, RPI 98.  Season to date: one good win (York), no bad wins (every RPI <219).  Outlook: Will be very close to making the PIT.  Improvements: the two Sophomores had rather moppish improvements; Thelen is not The Len and should be cut.  Strubros' first FR class looks pretty good; both FR have gone 60+ improvements as FR.  Fox will probably seem like he's been Here for a Million Years by the time he's a SR-- High ATH, SPD, DEF, BH, P.  For a C prestige team, it isn't Spin City to say that's a home run.  If Strubros turns this thing around, Fox will likely be the Secret of his Success.  Keating is 90% as good as a big, with upside in the big categories.  I think 50ATH/85REB/60 in DEF/BLK/LP is likely.  I'd take 2, but I wouldn't want my starting unit to be called the Keating 5.

8-19, RPI 119.  Season to date: Best victory of year was over 119 RPI Baptist Bible.  I was ready to be critical of Green overshooting, but his PPA are on par or better than most of the rest of VJ-RIP.  Improvements: the 3 guys with double digit LP improvements stick out, but Shiflet's lack of REB and Jones lack of ATH limit the upside of both.  The RS FR Errico is looking pretty Suave, picking up PE, BH, and P; he really profiles a  nice upside SF or passable G.  Lampley is the RS SF; pretty nice upside; his PE should be good enough to Light the Lamp, but his ATH and SPD don't look high enough to be elite.  The three FR PF's all are interesting-- There's No Crying will looking at Dugan's potential-- super high in SPD; REB, and LP.  He'll be the first 20/50+ ATH/SPD big I can remember; with 80+ in LP and REB, I think he will be an NT-caliber player.  Deckert is well rounded in big man skill improvements, but with his bad baseline ratings, will likely spend his career Chasing the A-Team.  Claude Wilson's War will be that neither his ATH (39L) or LP (64L) have much improvement left.  There's upside in SPD, REB, DEF, and PE, but he won't be good enough to be all League of Nations.

22-4, RPI 9.  Season to date: No scheduling disasters, but probably underscheduled even at that.  This team was good enough to face more than 3 sub-135 teams in nonconference.   Outlook: Top 3 NT seed.  Improvements: Hull keeps pushing towards elite 2-G status; Holmes and Maser project as a great inside combo; their only issue is playing time with the 3 other young bigs.  For the true FR, it's hard to be too Critical of Ebbert; his upside mayb be hard to discern due to his 24 WE.  I'll give him a Thumb's Up.  Whitworth's an interesting one; a nice baseline except super low LP.  That appears to be the only bright green, but the baseline ATH is high enough that will likely go over 60.  Chewning is more an acquired Taste; another guy with low WE that may mask some upside, but he only looks green in LP/PE/BH.  If so, maybe he's a decent SF, but I don't see the G skills playing.

15-11, RPI 38.  Season to date: Finished strong.  One really bad nonconference win, only 1 top 30 RPI victory (Hood).  Better than I thought they'd do.  Outlook: Should be first round NT casualty.  Improvements: McLester now looks like a fun SF; a Coop special with solid REB and elite PE.  The RS FR Crim's prognosis is a little Grim; that ATH isn't seeing 30.  Dawson picked up points where it mattered (ATH, REB, LP), but not enough so that he looks to be elite in any of them.  There was no Family Feud over his signing, but apparently wasn't one of the Top 5 Answers on the Board.  The True FR are two extremes.  Zook is an A+ signing; he didn't do well in school in Florida, but maybe just needed to change of scenary and a little Coaching to get his act together.  He's high in SPD, DEF, PE and P and with a decent base in BH looks like a monster combo guard.  Cuneo is high in everything but DEF, but he might have the worst non-Sim AI baseline of any recent CAC recruit.  We'll see if Coop has to cut bait before too long.  I like the Adkins/Zook/McLester backcourt for two and three seasons from now, but SMM needs some bigs worth playing in next year's recruits.

The formula numbers are mathematically impossible to achieve-- the top 5 teams in the north have to lose at least 20 games that they play amongst themselves, and they're only down for 18 losses.

I've talked about making the North/South adjustment before, but have never gotten around to it.

9-5, RPI 22 (SOS 2).  Strengths: G shooting; SF REBing.  Weaknesses: FT shooting, backcourt defense.  Improvements: Salter's SPD/PE jumps out at you.  Lukavsky's PE/LP improvement (+13/+11).  Tilley's all around non-LP improvement.  Danny Smith has progressed nicely despite his Low WE-- he's still got room to do better than just keep up with the Jones going forward.  Newcomers: Wroten in the first JUCO at CUA since the early days of potential.  He's high in REB/DEF/PE/BH.  The Sad Letter to write is that Jeremiah is low in SPD.  The FR G Snider us low in his good base categories (SPD, PE) but high in PE/BH.  If either D or ATH gets to 30 (ATH has a chance), I'd like his profile more an limit my Snider comments.  Gains is the new big and appropriately has big Gains in SPD, BLK, REB and LP.  I like his scoring ability alot if that SPD gets over 40.

12-2, RPI 59 (SOS 151).  Strengths: big man ATH and DEF; all around SPD.  Unique profiles.  FT shooting.  Weaknesses: elite REB; SF REB; BLK ratings.  Improvements: Penn continues to Blow Up.  The +8 or higher in ATH, BLK, LP, PE and PE is the real Teller.  Scared to Report Dowd's +27 LP.  With his ATH upside and headed for 80+ LP, he's Rose more than you'd expect.  Newcomers: Ramsey's the JUCO-- He's got a great profile and will fill the G gap next year.  McLernon's high in ATH, DEF, PE and P.  Once he gets he O/D Lernon' on, he should play fine.  Willingham is high in ATH, DEF, BH, and P.  He'll play PG in the future backcourt.  Neither will get over 70 on SPD.

14-1, RPI 6 (SOS 21).  Strengths: 3 big REBers; multiple 70+ ATH guys; Williams/McClellan Mr Outside/Mr Inside routine.  Weaknesses: 2nd 55+ Bher; passing/BH of bigs; G REB.  Improvements: General McClellan's JR to SR year excellence deserves mention.  5 guys picked up 12+ in PE.  Gray is the one who projects to be the next big shooter.  Newcomers: Trejo's got upside in ATH, DEF, PE and P.  Ettinger's got upside in the G skills and a great base on the other cats, but  you never know what will happen with Ettinger's Cat.  Loberg is the new big; he's got the best base of any of the FR bigs, but with low WE and low ST, his development so far in REB, DEF, and BLK is just the tip of the IceBerg.

11-15, RPI 68.  Strengths: 4 elite defenders; rebounding depth.  Weaknesses: No passer > 60; only 2 LP's >40 (no bigs over 51).  Improvements: One good in each class (Bowen-SR, Lester-JR, Turner-SO, Hinson-FR (RS)).  This is a team that could use a sky's LP guy.  Hinson's probably close.  What he needs is his improvement to Play Again like this past season.  Newcomers: Currin is high ATH, SPD, DE.  He's not the Cure for the Passing ills.  Swift's improved a little in the G skills, but the BH will probably never be high enough to avoid Travels and other TO's when getting amongst the Brobdingnagian folks.  Maultsby has a pretty good base and well-rounded improvements.  With low WE, there is hope that those will pick up more over the next few seasons; he's Presumed Innocent until we find out otherwise.  McPhan is the last FR.  He looks like a great, truly elite profile... except LP.  He's high-high in ATH, SPD, REB, DEF, and BLK.  He's a great partner if Henson ends up high in LP.

21-4, RPI 11.  Strengths: Great team.  Elite inside and outside scorers.  Across the board ATH and DEF; FT shooting.  Weaknesses: No 80+ SPD G's.  BLK ratings are low; BH/P of bigs.  Improvements: Tune's improvements are Music to any coach's ears (>+10 in ATH, REB, DEF, and P-- not fair).  Weber picked up enough LP to become the necessary 2nd big scorer in order to Grill opponents down low.  Newcomers: After losing a battle for a monster local, MW only brought in Sophomore Fisher.  He's got a great base except LP, but doesn't bring much improvement potential.  He's fine as a win-now 5th big and a win-next year 3rd big if rusticity can land another elite JUCO.  He will never be the Fisher King, but can certainly contribute.

22-4, RPI 18.  Strengths: well-rounded ATH and D; lack of BH holes; FT shooting; high ST of best players.  Weaknesses: no 75+ PE's; only one 75+ REB; only 1 BLK >50.  Improvements: Kratzer's PE (Sky's!) improvements have mattered.  Ippolito's a classic low WE late bloomer.  The Sophomore bigs (Kessler and Barnes) are the big story.  The are a neat pair with Barnes' Noble ATH/SPD/LP offsetting his low REB and covered by Kessler's high REB and covering his lower LP.

13-2, RPI 6.  Newcomers: McManamy is a shooter.  78 Low PE is still 78 PE.  The SPD, DEF are high which makes him better, but the P is (+7) and might hit 80 before he graduates.  The big Pierson is a big Person (6'9") and has upside in REB, BLK, LP, and PE though as a RS with a low-ish WE (32), he isn't climbing up as a FR.

10-5, RPI 45.  Newcomers: One JUCO (Collins) has big upside with a decent starting profile, good enough to lead Salisbury even if not good enough to lead all Ireland.  The true FR are a neat pair of bigs-- Lloyd --Great Scott! has great ath/DEF, upside in the other big cats and Quinn-- nice starting REB/ATH for Mighty Quinn.  They complement on REB, but neither will see 50 in LP before the very end of next season.  The last FR (Smith) is my kind of guy; upside in REB, SPD, and PE to go with a nice base.  You'd like a little more LP or P, but he'll play.

13-3, RPI 3.  Newcomers: Files has a nice base, but only upside in SPD, DEF, and PE.  How high the SPD goes is really the X-Factor; the REB is nice and he can hang as a SF even if the G skills lag.  The Alfredo Lopez show has upside in REB and LP will last all 4 seasons, but his lack of lift anywhere else means he's stuck in non-Prime Time slots.  Wilson has a great base, but only big upside in BLK and LP.  Worth noticing that Edelman has targeted low-30 WE guys for the last few seasons; they don't improve as quickly, but usually fulfill their potential by their SR seasons.

10-5, RPI 81.  Newcomers: Richmond's a Capital player; he'll get to 70 DEF, 60 ATH, and 75 PE at least.  The SPD caps out in the low 50's, but that's about as good of a scorer/defender as you'll see with 50 SPD.  Bess has low potential in ATH/SPD (with a decent base), but has upside in REB, DE, BLK, and LP.  Not enough LP to be the Best, but enough of the rest to get off Catfish Row.

16-6, RPI 5.  Newcomers: Five FR and no JUCOs for Russell T.  Everyone should have Eyes on Ryan Hill.  This +51 this year with good stuff where it counts (+10 ATH, +11 LP, +9 REB).  He is the best FR in the conference.  His frontcourt mate, Johnson, has a little better base, but not as much upside.  James "Screwdriver" Phillips is the best of the backcourt guys; he's a pure SG who will get his Turn as a big time scorer.  Watson is an Athlete who is high in ATH and SPD, but has no guard skills.  Will he be valuable?  Indubitably.  What will his role be? A defensive stopper.  When you rule out all the other possibilities, whatever is left, however unlikely, is reality.  Martinez has a decent base but no upside.  He is Russ' best option this year, but I think you'll see Me and Julio down by the school yard instead of on this roster within two seasons.

11-10, RPI 57.  Newcomers: 5 openings, only one signing due to some timing snafus from Wrono.  The RS FR G (Mellott) keeps improving by leaps and bounds; the bad news is the ST has not kept up and Wrono will need every minute out of him he can get.  The true FR is Ruth.  He's got big upside in LP and some in REB.  With his decent base, his Marymount will definitely be better with him than if they were Ruthless, but the Ruth is that he's solid, not a future superstar.

15-7, RPI 37.  Newcomers: One true FR.  Interesting base: 89 LP doesn't come along… even for a SR that often, but he can't put on Airs due to his low base in ATH, REB, and ST and modest upside (mid high in ATH/SPD, hi hi in REB).  He's low in ST and a good RS for this squad since he only took a ~10% hit in WE.

14-9, RPI 94. Newcomers: Yanks has 2 true FR, but a stable of sophomores and a RS FR who appear to be a great base for an NT run the next two years.  Check out the double digits across the board in the improvement matrix.  Terry Grimes (or Grimey, as his Friends Called Him) has a nice, well-rounded base, but doesn't have big upside.  That's oddly appropriate.  Bailes is the other true FR.  I like him a lot.  He's got that great ATH from the start and upside in REB,  BLK, and LP.

6-19, RPI 209.  Mediocrity, thy name is SimAI. Newcomers: O'Keefe (not from Georgia, or New Mexico for that matter) isn't that bad for a Sim recruit.    With another 30 points of REB, I'd take him for CUA; as is, he shouldn't be cut when a human takes over.  Dixon (not from Maryland or Pennsylvania for that matter) is made from less Hardy stock, to be Frank.  He's got some upside, but even fully formed, him + $2 will only get you a cup of Joe at Starbucks.

6-18, RPI 127.  Newcomers: I don't know if Bhakta is The Future, but he's got a decent base with what looks like a nice upside in REB/DEF and the non-traditional big man skills.  His limited ATH/SPD means that he Needs Road where he's going, but he projects as a nice SF/PF swing guy depending on team needs.  Leeman is the other newcomer.  Talk about a rising Investment!  He's plus huge so far in ATH (+9), SPD (+9), REB (+4), DEF (+8), BLK (+11), and LP (+8).  His non-big skills are atrocious, but I'd recruit him and any Brothers he has if I got the chance.

23-1, RPI 1.  Newcomers: Mullaney is a low WE shooter with good G skills.  He's harder to project due to his low WE, but he's already a competent scorer; he looks like the G profile CUA's had success with.  William has a good broad base SF profile (only P started below 25), but only ATH and the scoring skills (PE/LP) are high-potential.  He'll score a ton with that profile (sort of like Sing who just graduated SMM) particularly if one of the scoring skills is "Sky's the Limit."

20-6, RPI 10.   Newcomers: Ropiski is another one from the scoring G profile bucket; his base is bad on ATH/DEF, but looks high potential on DEF to go with adding to his 75+ PE and heading to 70+ passing.  Rogers is Making the Most of this Beautiful Day, a big upside SF with a broad base and upside in everything but REB.  The LP will get some points for him, enough to earn his Yellow letterman's jacket.  White's the last FR.  He's low potential except high-high in ATH, REB, and LP, the latter two of which started with a 55+ base.  He'll rebound and score and as soon as next year his ATH won't be a liability.  We won't start a Revolution, but he won't go on Sale any time soon.

11-7, RPI 38.  Newcomers:  On a team with only 3 G's, the question is: What about Bob Thorton?  He's a low ATH/DEF G with upside in all the G skills.   He's going to improve and be effective, but whether he's elite depends on his ATH and DEF.  Among the bigs, Dodge has the potential to turn DC into Dodge City; he's going to get to 70 ATH, 90 REB, 90 BLK and 75+ LP.  With passable SPD and good DEF, not even his low ST upside keeps him from being the best CUA big since Turd Ferguson.  He overshadows Bruce Davis, but maybe shouldn't.  Davis still is high a bunch of categories after this year's impressive improvements: ATH (+6), SPD (+7), REB (+10), LP(+10), PE (+6) and BH (+2).  Alexander Graham Bell is the last of the bigs, though he profiles as a SF after his RS season.  He's still got big upside in SPD, DEF, PE, and BH.  He's a dropoff from the recent CUA SF's, but with that REB/DEF/LP combo, he won't be Phoning it in on either end of the court.

17-3, RPI 45.  Newcomers: Steele's not a Mystery as a JUCO transfer.  Good base, upside in DEF, PE, and P.  He's nice this year, better next.  Inniss has a decent base, but only upside in ATH and D.  You can play with those skills, but he's a backup piece at best:  more a LaQuinta Inniss than a Waldorf Astoria.

12-6, RPI 21.  Newcomers: Childress has a great base (449 OVR, 1 DUR to start) and big upside in ATH, DEF, and PE and some in BH.  He'll be solid if/once the PE gets to 60, but more Mortimer than Randolph Childress.  The two bigs have similar bases, but different development paths: Bradley's got a great ATH/DEF/LP upside (+6) with some in SPD/REB (+3).  Winston has no ATH/SPD upside (+0), but big on REB (+6) and DEF/LP (+5).
