#161 Leagues Q. I no longer want to be in my league. Can I change leagues?
  A. We can move you to a different league ONLY if:
  • The team you want to move is a full-season team
  • The league you're in has not had it's games scheduled already
If these conditions are true, you will see this icon () in your Team Center beside the team. Clicking on it and accepting the warning will return your team to the Draft Centre. At this point, the team will be moved from the "Active Teams" section to the "Drafting Teams" section of the Team Center, and removed from the current league.

To join a different league, click on the team in the "Drafting Teams" section of your Team Center. This will take you to the Draft Centre. Now, click "Join A Different League" at the top of the Draft Center.
#165 Leagues Q. How do I create a private league for me and my friends?
  A. Before you begin drafting your team, you'll be asked if you want to either (a.) Join the first available league, (b.) Start a new private league, (c.) Start a Theme League, (d.) Start a Dynasty League, or (d.) Join an existing league.

If you choose to create your own league, then we will start a new league for you and place your team in it. Then make a note of the league number and send messages to your friends telling them the league number so they can join it.

You have 7 days to fill the open spots in your league with your friends. After 7 days, your league will be opened to the public.
#166 Leagues Q. How do I join a private league that a friend of mine has created?
  A. You'll need to know the number of the league that your friend has created. Before you begin drafting your team, choose the option to "Join an existing league" and type in the league number.

If there are still openings in that league when you have finished drafting, your team will be added to it.
#167 Leagues Q. How will I know when my league is ready to start?
  A. As soon as your league is full, all team owners will receive an email notifying them that league play is ready to begin. Please make sure your email address is correct or you won't receive the notification.
#168 Leagues Q. Can I play in more than one league at once?
  A. Absolutely! While each WhatIfSports member may only compete in 1 free SimLeague at a time, you may compete in as many full-season leagues as you wish.

For open leagues, the system will put all of your teams in seperate leagues so that you do not have to play against yourself.
#176 Leagues Q. If two teams in my league have the same points, what is the tie-breaker?
  A. If two teams have the same number of points, the NHL uses the following steps to break the tie.

(1) The winner is the team with more regular season wins. If there is still a tie, (2) the team that recorded more wins against each other (head to head record) will be proclaimed the winner. If their head to head records are identical, then (3) the team with the better goal differential is the winner. In the rare chance that there is still a tie, (4) the winner is determined by a good old-fashioned coin toss.
#755 Leagues Q. What is a Progressive Chain?
  A. Designed with progressive leagues in mind, a Progressive Chain allows you to link (or chain) leagues together. You can start a chain and add related leagues to the chain. The advantage is that all leagues in the chain will retain their full standings and stats until the chain has ended. It helps progressive leagues stay grouped together so past seasons are easily accessible.

For information on how to start a Progressive Chain, see Article #756.

For information on how to add a league to a Progressive Chain, see Article #757.
#756 Leagues Q. How do I start a new Progressive Chain?
  A. To start a new Progressive Chain, you must first have purchased a full season hockey team. From the Team Center, find your new team in the "Drafting Teams" section and click the "DRAFT CENTRE >" link. The next screen you'll see is the "Drafting : League Options" screen. If you do not, click "Join A New League" at the top of the Draft Centre. On the League Options screen, click the "More League Options >" link. The page expands to show more options. Now choose "Create A New Progressive League Chain" and continue.

Once you have drafted your team, given it a name and selected a home arena, you'll be asked to provide some information about the chain you are creating. Once you have filled out this information and selected your theme options, you'll be placed in a new league that is part of a new chain.

For more information on Progressive Chains, see Article #755.

#757 Leagues Q. How do I add a league to an existing Progressive Chain?
  A. There are two ways to add a league to an existing chain, however you must know the chain ID and password before continuing with either option.

Option 1 (league already exists): If the league you wish to add to the chain has already been created and is filling up with teams, or is full and play has already started, you can still add it to a chain at any time. However, you must be the founder of the league to add it to a chain. If you are the founder, so to the League Office. There is a blue box at the top of the right column with the theme rules and description in it. At the bottom of this box, there will be a "Chain" option. Click "Chain" and enter the chain ID and password. Your league will be instantly added to the chain.

Option 2 (league has not yet been created): To start a new league that will be part of an existing chain, you must first have purchased a full season hockey team. Now choose "Create A New Season For An Existing Progressive League Chain" and continue. Once you have drafted your team, entered a team name and selected a home arena, you'll be prompted for the chain ID and password. After you enter this information, you'll continue on to choose the theme options. Once complete, your new team will be in a new league that is part of the chain you specified.
