College Football Week 16 Picks and Predictions

Week 16 predictions for every D-I/FBS college football game
December 9, 2013

Each Monday,'s NCAA college football simulation engine will provide you with game predictions for every D-1 FBS game that upcoming week. The college football simulation engine generates detailed information for each game including each team's chances of winning (Win%) and the average points scored for both teams. Make sure to share the college football information you gained here with your friends by either checking out our NCAA football widgets on the WhatIf To Go page or clicking on the social networking share bar at the top and bottom of this article.

Check out our 2013 College Football Season-to-Date page to follow our accuracy and for Upsets of the Week.

The statistical inputs to the thousands of college football simulations are based on rigorous analysis of each team's roster, depth charts and statistically based player rankings. Roster modifications are made in cases of injury or suspension and those players are removed from their team's game simulation for that week.

Game of the Week: Army vs. Navy

As it so often does, the 114th meeting of Army vs. Navy will focus on one area: the trenches.

The Black Knights and Midshipmen run the football first, second and third with a dash of passing 10 times a game.

Army, who hasn't won a game since early October, was first in the nation in rushing yards per game until Auburn racked up 545 rushing yards against Missouri in the SEC Championship game. So, the Black Knights' 323 rushing yards per game must settle for the silver for right now.

Army's three-headed monster out of the backfield is led by junior running back Terry Baggett. He's averaged over eight yards per carry this season with eight touchdowns. Quarterback Angel Santiago leads the team with nine touchdowns on the ground with a team-high 161 carries.

Navy averages 320 rushing yards per game. Their quarterback and leading rusher, Keenan Reynolds, just broke an FBS record for most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a game with seven against San Jose State in triple-overtime. Reynolds broke a record previously held by, ahem, Navy and Air Force QBs. Over ten percent of Reynolds' 250 carries this season have resulted in him scoring a touchdown (26).

The issue for both squads remains for how great they are at running the ball, their defense has issues stopping it. Navy ranks 88th, allowing over 188 rushing yards per game, while Army sits 100th in the country at over 201 rush yards allowed per game.

We simulated Army and Navy 101 times and it's Navy winning 67.3 percent of the time by an average margin of 25-21.
