2010 College Football Previews and Predictions

The hunt for the crystal football begins
By Ryan Fowler, Whatifsports.com
August 13th, 2010

The heavy, hot August sun is about to become thousands of college football players' worst enemy. Water breaks will be a welcomed oasis as these well-conditioned athletes are pushed to their breaking point. All of the wind sucking, sled pushing, pad popping, pre-season practices are just a segway to the true marathon that awaits 120 FBS schools come the first weekend in September.

College football pre-season practices are where the blood on the jersey and the sweat in your eyes stings with satisfaction of a job done well. A team's, and not an individual's, ability to keep their focus on the task at hand propels championship contenders ahead of the pack.

We've learned over the years as bowl games become more prevalent and college football's post-season becomes watered down, that unless you are one of the two teams vying for Waterford crystal football in early January, you probably didn't bleed or sweat nearly enough in August. Oh yeah, and then there is that whole college football playoff issue.

Using our college football simulation engine, Whatifsports.com will release its college football predictions for all 6 BCS conferences along with game-by-game schedules and predicted results for each team. Then to top it off, our friends from Scout.com and FOXSports.com will provide unique insight to all the BCS college football squads featured in our previews. Finally, on Tuesday August 24th, we will unveil every FBS conferences' final standings and records. All 120 schools will be accounted for in this preview as we are less than one month away from the start of the 2010 NCAA football season.
