The statistical inputs to the thousands of college football simulations are based on rigorous analysis of each team's roster, depth charts and statistically based player rankings. Roster modifications are made in cases of injury or suspension and those players are removed from their team's game simulation for that week.

Game of the Week: Notre Dame at Michigan

The once heated rivalry between Michigan's and Indiana's most storied programs comes to an end in 2015 as the Irish embrace a more ACC-friendly schedule.

However, we still have a couple more opportunities to feature the Irish and Wolverines in our College Football Game of the Week.

Brady Hoke said in his press conference Monday that he was happy that his team won their season opener against Central Michigan, 59-9, but added there is work to be done. The Wolverines racked up 242 yards rushing and outgained the Chippewas, 463-210, in the season-opening rout.

It's worth noting that Hoke is the first Michigan head coach to go undefeated at home in his first two seasons since Fielding Yost (1901-02) and defensive coordinator Greg Mattison has finished the last two seasons ranked inside the Top 20 in total defense.

Last season, turnovers killed Michigan in South Bend, coughing up the ball five times in the first half en route to a 13-6 loss. Quarterback Devin Gardner, 214 total yards and 3 touchdowns vs. CMU, will need to be careful with the football against a stout Irish defense.

As for Notre Dame, Tommy Rees put together a solid performance in his first game back as starter. You may remember Everett Golson was suspended for the season (academic). Rees finished with 346 passing yards and three touchdowns against Temple. Still, a 28-6 win wasn't the blowout type of performance most Irish fans would expect to see against a foe from the American Athletic Conference.

The six points allowed was expected as the Irish return eight starters on defense from last season. Notre Dame finished seventh in total defense and second in scoring defense in 2012.

The Wolverines have won 15 straight home games, going 10-5 against the spread during that stretch. (Source: OddShark)

We simulated Michigan and Notre Dame 101 times and it's the Wolverines winning 51 percent of the time by an average score of 24-23.
