I think he will turn out OK, but honestly, outside of 1 game in Toronto, what exactly has Middlebrooks done this year to be declared 'the real deal'?
can't help but be pleased with the start, especially compared to expectations....but if the pitching becomes less than out of this worldly, this bubble bursts fast......the lineup needs help
is anyone else not exactly seeing what they are supposed to like so much about Jonny Gomes? I don't feel like he is anything like Kevin Millar and on top of that, he kind of sucks......on the flip side, I don't find myself loathing Mike Napoli as much as I thought I would
He started out fast....then hit a large brick wall. That said, he plays plus defense and has shown to have plus power (see last year). The kid has it.
Much better than "expert" predictions. Pitching will good all year (barring injury). Defense is damn good. The Pen started amazing and has fizzled a little now. I has the makeup to be one of the tops all season.
Yeah...was shocked/disappointed when we brought in Gomes. He stinks. The thing he is good at, seems to be chemistry. I'm also enjoying Napli more than i thought too. Can't wait to see Papi, Napli, Middlebrooks 3-4-5 all hitting at the same time.
Gomes is a solid power hitter. He'll shine at some point this season for an extended period, longer than JB Jr. did at least. Napster will hit with power all season, his avg&obp may fluctuate, but given the way he's swinging the bat I think it should be good. Remember he had been unhealthy. Either way, 25 bombs is a given.
I believe the pitching will stout all season. If there is gonna be a "surprise" manuever this season it'll involve Aceves being given his walking papers. i believe that'll simply depend on how badly they need a swingman.
I think Middlebrooks is closer to Hillenbrand than Adrian beltre as far as free swinging 3Bman go. We'll see.
Stephen Drew looks pretty competant. I'm on board
