As a Blue Jay fan I felt what he did was a little over the top. Granted you have to give a guy a little, due to it being a deciding game and a big hit etc etc. I've seen 'showboating' by pitchers in the reg. season that is about equal to that bat flip etc. The problem I've got with that is in the AL, there is no way to get 'payback'
All that said, as somebody who has pitched his share...yea I think I'd send a message next time he got in the box against me. Something inside about shoulder height.
I think players today are FAR too sensitive about being hit. Heck pitching inside is part of the game, I'm not talking about payback etc. You have to make a batter respect that area of the strike zone.. As pitcher when you go inside, if you miss your spot..you want to miss further inside. That means you may hit the odd batter. It's not deliberate etc and shouldn't be a need for 'payback'. Just part of the game. As pitcher, it's even better if I can get him a little nervous about getting hit.
