How do (2) and (3) fall under te JDA?

It seems to me that the discipline that is handed out to ARod should have two components: (1) a 50/100 game suspension under the confines of the JDA, and (2) additional time for obstruction under the CBA.

The fact the Bud has backed off on "best interests" threat tells me that his people said "Don't do it.  It won't hold up."    So, at this point, I think they're just working on how many JDA suspensions they can give him.

I also think ARod's people are still trying to swing a deal.   And, after being told "Don't try best interests", Bud came back to the table.

I'm hearing that Bud is backing off the "best interests" threat because of the potential damage it would do to the currently healthy relationship between MLB and the MLBPA.

So while he may indeed have enough evidence that would hold up under appeal, he's going the lesser route for political reasons.

He should get 50 games like everyone else. It's bullshit that they are trying to give him more. He would have been better off actually failing a test.

So he should get a free pass on obstruction?

obstruction, lying about his relationship with dr galea, and recruiting other players to become biogenesis customers

Sure. Like Melky did.

And?

Failing a drug test proves you took PEDs exactly once - it seems MLB has evidence of continual use on A-Rod going back to 2009, even forgetting all the ancillary stuff.

You're equating what Melky did to what ARod supposedly has done?

Neither one of us has any idea what Arod actually did. We do know that Bud is out to get him, so I take any leaks from MLB's side with a gigantic grain of salt.

The rule doesn't say you are suspended for every time you took PEDs. You're suspended for every time you are caught. Arod has now been caught once.

"no one really cares about due process until process is due to them."
8/5/2013 2:36 PM
Yeah, that's not really true, but whatever.
