Sez the guy who thinks that Kenny Lofton should be in a HOF discussion.

Correct. He's a borderline candidate who wouldn't get my vote.

Anyone that thinks 28 points in BA, 14 pts in OBP and 7 pts in SLG over 20 years makes for a "similar player" is a ******* moron.    Not sure I can say it any nicer.    Hell, just start with 400 more hits in 90 more PA and go from there.    It's ridiculous to say "Well, yeah, other than that, they're pretty similar."

It's like "Who's another guy with 3000 hits that didn't have a lot of power?  That's who Jeter is!!!"

It's only three points in OPS+.

If it were possible to get 400 hits in 90 AB, you'd be hitting about 4.450.

Your unwavering devotion to advanced metrics in any baseball discussion points out your foolishness.

Also, FTR, I'm not sure either are HOFers,   I'm just saying that Bernie and Edgar are comparable as players simply because not taking the field makes it easier to hit.

I think we can now assuming 3 pts of OPS+ over 20 years is insignificant.    Fair enough.

Buddy Bell and Tony Phillips will wait patiently while BL makes a HOF case for them.

Graig Nettles would like a BL shout out for HOF too.   As would Lou Piniella.    I could go on but I won't.

Why would I make a case for either of them?

Buddy Bell and Craig Biggio.

Similar career WAR values (Bell's is 1.0 higher in 2500 fewer PA's).

And only the magical 3 points of OPS+ difference between them.

Using your logic, they're similar players.

So if Biggio is a HOFer, why isn't Bell if they're similar players?

Why does the sentence, "Derek Jeter and Craig Biggio were very comparable statistically," **** you off so much?

Both will be hall of famers. Both are regarded as great players. Neither is an inner circle, first tier, all time great like Mays/Williams/Ruth/Bonds.

Damn, are we using WAR again?   Did he bail on his magical "OPS+ difference of 3 is insignificant" already?
