Funny how some think McGwire is a HOFer, regardless.
Wrong venue, dude. I think there's maybe 1 other person who's posted in this thread who doesn't think McGwire is a HOFer. And maybe he does too. But I know I think he is, I know Mike thinks he is, I know JTP thinks he is, and I know bl thinks he is.
opinions of guys who got baited into an 8 page thread......OK, dude
I'm still one of those "magic numbers" guys. If everyone who got 300 wins, 3,000 Ks, 3,000 hits or 500 homers is in the Hall (aside from recent PED users), it stands to reason that if you hit one of those benchmarks, you should be in. Seems unfair to say "Well, in the past we've used 500 homers as a HOF standard, but as more guys have joined the club, we just aren't that impressed anymore. We're going to stop considering it a benchmark and we'll start with you, Mark."
If every eligible player who ever hit 500 home runs is in the Hall, that pretty much tells you it's a HOF-worthy number by those standards.
