Lu to Toronto is really heating up. Komisarek would be heading to Vancouver.

I'd rather have Colton Orr or Mike Brown.

Canuck's filed "cutdown arbitration" on Mason Raymond today.  It means Raymond will likely have his salary cut by up to15% by an arbitrator.  The team can do this if the player makes more than 1.5 mil.  Basically the Canuck's qualified Raymond at 85% (or more)of his existing salary to retain his rights.  Means no raise for Raymond unless he gets an offer sheet, then the Canucks let him walk for the draft picks............Raymond's future on this team is bleak, unless he and his agent embrace the PAY CUT??

WOW.....Lu to Toronto rumours are still hot.  Think this happens before the draft.

Who knew this existed?  Not sure how this plays out, The arbitrator can side with the Canucks and demote Raymond's salary to 2.1 mil.  Then what.  Trade Raymond to a team needing to reach the salary floor knowing what his salary for next season will be?  2.1 mil is a bit much for someone not likely to play in your top 9 next season.  And maybe the arbitrator sides with Raymond and gives him a raise over this seasons 2.5 mil.

Too bad the clause only exists for RFA's (who make more than 1.5 mil)........Or the Canuck's would be filing "cutdown arbitration" against Luongo?

Hope Gillis and Vigneault atleast learned that when you get ahead by a goal or two ,you keep going forward , not sit back trying to defend, a system the Canucks suck at..
I think it is a bit of a crap shoot for next season still.  Collective bargaining agreement still to be sorted out.  From Gm meetings it sounds like there is a general discontent for defensive style hockey and a push to open up the game again.

Canucks already have a speed and skill based team.  Maybe they gamble the league is going to push offence next season and weigh their team even more heavily towards offence with their free agent and draft picks.

Could be worse.  It could be Dipietro's contract, or Bryzgalov's.

Plenty of BC talent available for free agents.  Maybe bringing all 3 of Justin Schulz, Garrison and Jackman home?
