Surprised there wasn't more love for 19th century teams. My first draft was 1885-1909 Cubs (through different incarnations) before I went more conservative and took Giants.

I thought about 19th c, but a lot of the guys you would probably most want to use (a) played for franchises that don't have a 25-consecutive-year run and (b) take up a lot of salary for a 90M cap.

Add in the devastating fielding that you have to put up with, and it scared me off.

ELEVEN of the same Indians years?? And yet, none of them are in 3-A! We do have 6 New York Giants teams, though.

Ugh... six are in my league (3B).

I'm disappointed we don't have more of those Cleveland teams in 3-A. They look like terrible hitters to me. Great pitching, but literally no position players from that era that I'd consider good value at a 90M cap.

That makes me feel alot better brianjw. My 90M team is the one I'm most worried about...

Really?...I like my 90mil team.  A touch better than my Cubs team of the same era.  I think we'll be fine.  Plus other guys like brian, shaybee and bigmc used roughly the same team/years.....I would be shocked if this wasn't a 90+ win team........your team however is a little later than others - I guess you didn't use a Mathewson?...that could be your downfall 

I tried and tried to get Mathewson in there, but just couldn't do it. Maybe I should have tried just a bit harder! I still think this will be a team that finishes better than .500, but probably not a playoff team.

I actually put together an early a Cleveland, Giants, and Whitesox team. In the end, there wasnt enough bullpen pitchers with the Cleveland team(I had 4 starters  Joss/Coveleski/Bernhard/Gregg), the Giants team didn't have enough starters although i went with a 2 man rotation of the 08 Mathewson and 04 Mcginnity. The Whitesox team had enough starters and some bullpen, but the worst defense of the three. So all three teams had holes, but I reluctantly went with the Whitesox team thinking they were the most well rounded.

Who needs bullpen pitchers? My Cubs team has 5 big starters and they will take turns in then pen. tried a WhiteSox team and couldn't make the cap because they weren't enough cheap scrubs to fill the roster spots. Tried the Giants and thought they were priced too high for this cap, surprised they are getting so much play.

I guess I was the only person who thought the Red Sox of that era was a decent choice.  I really wanted 1919 Ruth and I liked their pitching options (Young, Leonard, Wood).
